Why is it referred to as PSA/DNA?
Why do they call it that when there is no DNA test being performed?

They mark the item with a synthetic DNA marker that can only be viewed with a laser. A figurative invisible hologram.
That and I'm sure they thought the name sounds cool. A DNA examination of your Kirby Puckett signed index card would probably cost you $5,000. And, even then, I don't know how knowing the DNA of the index card would do you any good. Prove you're not the father, perhaps. Last edited by drc; 12-24-2011 at 01:49 PM.

Also I think it is supposed to infer the connotation that their "opinion" is confirming or otherwise the actual lineage of the item being reviewed.

It's because their "opinion" is 99.999999% accurate
 just like a real DNA test
