Default Do you think these are all the same [original] image?

Evening Folks,

Over the last couple weeks I have been searching the internet in hopes of finding the image that was used as the basis for George Gibson's T206. Thus far, I have yet to find it. What I have found is two non-T206 cards that, until now, I had never noticed sure bear a striking resemblance to the T206. I'm 99% convinced they are the same image, but there are just enough creases/scratches/marks in just the right places to stop me from being certain.

And so, I am curious to hear your thoughts. The image below is a composite of a T206 I own, and a 1910 E-Unc Orange Borders and 1911 E-Unc Baseball Bats Candy, both found on the internet.

In your estimation, is this the same image?

Thanks for your opinions.

Regards,

Richard.

Yes. Among other things, focus on the bend of the cap bill as well as the shadow it casts. Also the fold in his jersey just left of the top (near his neck) button.

Okay, good. So at least in this instant, I'm not crazy. I have spent a lot of time comparing these images -- the hat, the hair, the ears, the fold in the hat, the collar of the jersey, etc. I was quite sure they were the same, but for some reason, figured I was missing something.

And Chris, you're not kidding about him liking this pose. I'm not yet as certain about the Voskamp image, but that similar pose can also be found on the M101-2 Pirates team, the Johnston tri-fold postcard, and a few other 1909 Pirates team pictures that may or may not all be from the same larger panoramic.

Once again, thank for the responses!

Regards,

Richard.

1913 Voskamp's Coffee

edited to say you know your internet is superslow when you read all the posts and someone (Chris ) beats you to a image by well over 10 minutes, and it takes a few more minutes just to add an edit... haha oh well

That'd be too easy [I have a Voksamp Gibson]

I think the 1% of me that wasn't convinced the images are the same, is the part of me that knows if I complete the T206 back run then the OCD part of me is going to want the orange border and baseball bats candy card as well.

Regards,

Richard.

I think they are, but with different backgrounds, Pittsburgh prominently on one shirt, not the others, cropping and lighting issues, I'm about 90% sure.

I think bottom left and the card on the right might be the same for sure based on the shadow of the shirt just above the belt buckle, but you can't see that on the top left card.

Prior to making this post, I took these three images, and created a .PNG file with Gibson scaled in each image to as close to the same size as I could get by freehanding / eyeballing it. I won't post the actual image to this thread as it's a 1.5MB, but if you have software that allows you to manipulate PNG files, grab this one, and hide/show the layers and see what you think:
