Default A new way to collect pre-war?

Today I went into a card shop not far from my home. I probably haven't gone into this shop in three years. I was searching for a few older singles of Cleveland Browns & Indians players to have signed at this years National. On the way out of the shop I noticed that the store owner had some packs of 2009 Goudey. So I asked the owner to grab me two packs and ring them up. I haven't opened much as far as modern cards in years, so I was curious to see what the cards looked like. Imagine my surprise when I saw this in one of the packs.

I like it. Its a great way to get the kids and modern collectors a feel
for genuine period cards like the Goudey you rec'd. Hopefully it will spur
on a slew of new vintage collectors.

Never pulled one but Topps Heritage does a good job of paying tribute to classic sets.

Default Nice pull!

I like that Topps does a "Heritage" set each year, granted I've never put one together. I did get a few packs of the Upper Deck Goudey. Not a huge fan. Hell, even the original Goudey cards are printed on better stock than these retro cards. I did manage to pull a 1914 Cracker Jack card out of a box of 2004 Topps Cracker Jack which was a nice surprise!

I like it, and thanks for showing the accompanying card.

What I don't like is UD's use of the terms 're-purchase' and 're-release'. I didn't care for Topps using the term 'buyback', either. Topps couldn't buyback a T206 card, they didn't sell it in the first place. Gotta sell it before it can be bought back. UD didn't repurchase that Goudey card. And while the card has now been re-released, UD didn't re-release it, because they didn't release it in the first place.

Keep Clark and that UD explanation card together... nice!

Default Homage Sets

I have bulit each Topps Heritage set '01-'09 as well as Bowman Heritage and the other retro sets. I like them and have pulled many "re-released" cards from the packs. This is the only thing that even moderately excites me about new card product.

These cards are actual pre-war vintage not reproduction?

How was it packaged in the pack? Was that congratulations card right behind it? I've never pulled a re-packaged vintage card before.

Dan Carson-Its an original 1933 Goudey, not a reprint. Upper Deck bought these cards from a third party(dealer) and inserted them randomly into modern packs as an incentive to collectors to buy their product. I've recently learned on another board that these original Goudey cards were inserted at a rate of 1 per case. Other companies have done this before. As Frank mentioned above, Topps has inserted original T205, T206 & T207 cards into modern packs in the past. I own a few myself.

packs-The original Goudey card was in a penny sleeve along with the verification card (also in the sleeve) right behind it.

Default I got one of a pack last year

I'd guesstimate ex was the condition. Jantz' scan looks pretty similar to my card.

It was truly a cool pull

Rich

And yes, it's for sale if anyone really wants it
