This was covered a while back: http://www.network54.com/Forum/message?forumid=153652&messageid=1027158655.

Adam W. also wrote an article for VCBC that exposed him for the shill bidder that he is.

He also has a bad habit of not mentioning the fact that a card is a trimmed. When I first got back in the hobby a few years ago, I had bought a card from him and it turned out to be trimmed. When I called and mentioned this, he quickly refunded part of the sale price, but he seems to operate under the theory that he will try and screw you with and overpriced trimmed card and if he gets called on it, either give youa full refund or partial refund, depending on what you want. Either way, Broadway Rick is a sleeze bag.

The really sad thing about that whole MSNBC story is that even with all the evidence handed over to eBay, eBay did nothing.

Won a $1,000 card from chazssportscards. The ad had a paypal icon, but it also said in small print he didn't take paypal. I investigated and noticed that nearly 50% of his feedback was from cardswaxsupplies, an account with an identical "about me" profile to that of chaz. Luckily, I didn't pay - two other buyers received empty card holders (I guess so that the packages felt real such that teh buyers would open them without first procuring a witness).

So, this would lead you to believe that shill bidding is rampant on ebay. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to recognize such conduct? Ive always looked to see if there was a pattern - for example, does the same person always seem to bid on the same sellers items. I dont know if this really helps or not as Ive rarely found such bidding patterns. I really hate to think how much I could be overpaying due to shill bidding.

One of the big give aways of shillbidding is low feedback of the bidder along with muliple bids and bids every time a new person bids. Then there are the idiots like bsrz that use shill with the same exact contact info for the bidder and seller. Yet eBay doesn't punish them. Imagine that.
