Default Newly discovered sets

Just bought my first Tango Eggs card. Really neat, beautiful cards.

Made me wonder about the story how they were discovered. Not suggesting they are not really from 1916 or authentic, but how difficult would it be for someone to purchase some blank cardboard dating back to the early 1900s and print a set of cards that were heretofore "undiscovered" and largely uncirculated. If a smart person lifted type face style and even pictures from other sets, and printed them well, it doesn't seem that hard to imagine a new set could be "discovered" tomorrow. How about the Lection cards from upstate NY? Anyone alive ever see one as a kid?

Maybe the grading companies have capabilities beyond my understanding to root something like this out.

Not charging anyone with anything. . . .but it makes me wonder if someone couldn't commit a pretty lucrative fraud with not so much work. Seems like the give away from most faked care is the bogus aging. Well what if they are uncirculated?

I think we always raise both eyebrows on new discoveries. At least I do. Each situation has to be looked at on it's own face value and circumstances, ie.. black swamp find, trucker boy find , Different Wagners over time and other collections of only known items. I think it would be fairly difficult to fool everyone but maybe not impossible. The less provenance the more skeptical I am

A few low grade Tango Egg cards were known before the find.

there have been 3 pre find Tango's turn up since I started collecting them in '99- Cobb, Plank and Oakes. Others have said they'd seen them previously, notably Frank Ward. I'm almost positive the set numbers 48 in total.
Kevin, do you recall any others other than the 3 I mentioned above? Did they all have a numbered stamp on the back?

Not sure this really fits, but anyone know whatever happened to the blue old mill?

No, those are the same ones that I knew about, but somebody else (Macrae?) told me that they had seen others.
