Default What is Propay?

Hello everyone, I was looking at some cards on ebay and I saw a seller saying he only accepted payment through propay. I assume it is similar to paypal. If I pay through propay do I have to create an account with it, or is that something the seller has to do etc? Thanks for the help

The ProPay eAuction account is the easiest way for your eBay® buyers to pay. With ProPay’s secure integrated checkout, your buyers pay immediately with their credit or debit cards, without having to log into or set up a separate account. They’ll love the convenience, protection, and rewards from paying with credit or debit cards.

Currently, the ProPay eAuction account is exclusively for US-based eBay PowerSellers.

It's a Paypal clone, and based in the same town as Paypal.

They opened around the same time Ebay decided to make payments "paypal only"
And at the time it was available to anyone and had higher fees. Not the best model for an unknown startup.

At the time there was some speculation that it was setup by Ebay to avoid an antitrust complaint. Conspiracy theory? Maybe, but you can draw your own conclusions from the info above.
