Default No Babe Ruth

No Babe Ruth, but I did pick up my first REA win-- a lot of 10 e102 in nice shape. I think I got a nice deal.

On the off chance that the winner of the sepia ER Williams breaks up the set, I would be interested in acquiring one as type.

Default Underbidder...

Struck out swinging on the T210-8 Series lot after fouling several off. I placed 4 straight bids late to push that sub-set up quite a bit... (Someone wanted the set really bad at $235 per card) Placed about a dozen bids overall, and came up empty this year.

I think you got that SF Hess for a steal at that price. Great card and who knows when you will see another example from that set.

I totally agree and even said so the night of the auction. Great pickup for 60% of the real market value, imo.

I agree with Leon. Easily a 10k card. If I had any idea it would go that cheap i would have been more aggressive in pursuing it. I also think the 'common' Kbat Mets went cheap as well.

Thanks Scott. I have no clue what happened. 14k and an SMR (which is nowhere near what they go for on ebay, they sell for more) of 22k or so. Darned if I know. Like I say, we live and learn. The E90-1 set has never been a "hot" set like some of the other sets but where else can you get two Wagners, Cobb, Matty, all the HOFers and all those scarce variation and horizontal cards? I'm just glad I didn't buy the Joe Jackson and added it to the set to make it complete. There's another E90-1 near set of 119/120 (minus Joe) in Mile High right now with a minimum bid of 25k. Maybe that didn't help. Oh well I'll take the 14k and plow it back in to more cards.

When I saw that sitting there at midnight at that price, I was so annoyed I had not put a place-holder bid on it earlier so I could bid.

Thanks guys.

Really fun auction, picked up my stuff from REA today (Thanks Dean, Tom & Rob) still sitting in my office it's 2am and I'm still pulling Obaks out of sheets and they are in unreal condition be dropping these sets off to SGC this week.

I feel like I'm 12 again, almost makes me sad to pull them from the sheets.

Maybe I should have a guess the grades game...LOL

Cheers,

John

Not sure if I overpaid or not on lot #423, but I'm sure excited about it! I'm definitely keeping the Wagner, but I may put a few of these up on eBay.

While I like the Wagner, I am totally amazed it got a '2' with that big water stain across the front of the card. That makes the other '2'' in the same grouping look like a '4'......

Default M116 Lajoie

M's Fan - do you happen to know why the Lajoie got a 2? I don't see any any stains or creasing from the scan, maybe something on the back?

Nice group anyway, congrats.

The Lajoie has a tiny bit of paper loss on the back which explains the downgrade.

That Wagner...I can't get over that oil slick on there. Is that going to be a prime candidate for a soaking?

It never occurred to me that a stain like that could be removed by soaking. Glue and tobacco can soak off, but I wouldn't guess stains like that would go away. But I've never soaked anything so I don't know much about this.
