Default REA: What Did You Win?

The REA Auction is finally over.

I missed out on the N162 Kelly as part of my planned two-part upgrade, but did with the other half - N28 Ward and finally got my Satchel Bowman RC.

-feel like I got a good deal on the Ward, but paid too much (though it seems to be the current market) for the Paige.

Overall, in spite of the disappointment of not landing the Kelly card, it was okay. The seller's fee aka buyer's premium alone for the Kelly wound up being a grand! I'll be paying out $560 extra for my two cards.

Time to re-evaluate the wisdom of continuing to purchase any card through auction houses.

Edge to the 'bay, perhaps?

I won my first ever lots last night......well early this morning would be more accurate. Woke up at 2:45 to see I was outbid on the Schmelz OJ (kind of disappointed) so I threw in another bid on the N28 Glasscock. The late bid was successful. Very happy to add the N28 to go along with my Glasscock OJ. Now if I can only find a decent priced N162 .

I also was the winner of the 1890s base ball trophy. Its a pretty neat piece and will be a great addition to my collection.

The third lot I was the winner of is for my wife. The 1910s E45 American Caramel "Easter Subjects" Complete Set will be a welcome addition to her animal card collection.

There were some really good deals especially some of the larger groups. Lot of 30 T207 for $1000, lot of 30 1914 CJs for $3250 just to name a few.

Congrats to all the winners. I'm very happy to be in the club now with my wins and the tears to come from the 20% bp and shipping costs .

Sorry for the silly question but this is my first time bidding in an REA auction. When does one receive confirmation that they were the high bidder on a lot?

Shipping is on REA this go around so that helps out a little with the BP costs. So many lots I wanted but I decided to go big on just one. After a quick question to REA I will post my winnings!

Shipping has been on REA last several go-rounds (at least for domestic US) .. they've had that in-place at least a year or so now I believe. Nice

I hit like 1 of 11, a lot of T206 SL'ers. Went back and forth on the lone E94 (I think it was lone for that set in this auction) - Davis PSA6 and finally relented. Same with the a few E98's and E97's as well as trio of J Ross helms in Pied, OM and Hindu - congrats to whomever won those!

Still collecting the "E"s primarily - E93's done, I have most of the E94's, E95's (just need Wagner) and E98's as well. E96 and E97 less than half still.

No idea what your green Cobb looks like but you can take the one last night out of the equation for relative sales. No other 5 or 6 will come close to that one for a long, long time if ever. Congrats on the Matty, a superb card.

Same $1,000 charge for shipping to UK. I imagine that it is a placeholder -- as even if there are customs / other issues to solve for, it likely is not $1,000 precisely

Lasted longer than for any REA before. Hoping to afford the Pickering letter or the E107 Earl Moore, but the purse strings drew too tightly. I did get the 1908 Postcard of George Stovall.

I got nothing. I was high bidder for a while on the T214 Oldring but I went to sleep. I'm not too upset about it as I didn't want to go any higher on it. Ah well.

I was shut out on everything except these nice 19c Cosack trade cards. I especially like the backs.

Pete--Nice Mantle, and I could not agree with you more on the fact that it is the TRUE Mantle rookie. I have never understood the argument for the OTHER one!

Cheers,
Mike

Was one of those nights where was into 9 and ended up only with choice #9. Still a gorgeous card, with the dark uniform setting it off and, as they say, 'highest graded."

I think this was an impulse purchase to try to just win "something." Never a great strategy, but still happy to pick up a CJ.

Thought I'd be shut out this year but managed to sneak one card out late...

e94 printing oddities and errors are very few in number so I'm happy to have this one!

Sorry Zach, that was me. When there was no action on the other lot I was winning, I decided I could go one more on something else, and it was the Oldering. The other lot I picked up was the A.W.H. Shag.

Yes - that's right, there was another E94. I have Speaker (love the oddity back on this one, Brian) - didn't have the Davis PSA6, bid up a few times but ultimately threw in the towel late on that one

Thanks for the kind words guys!

For most of the auction I had focused on the e92 Crofts miscut, but decided at the last second to try the Speaker. Will find a good home over here for sure!
