Default Just curious, is this a huge rip or are these going cheap?

Since I no longer read SCD, I was just curious, what are these? Do they really contain unopened packs from 1960 baseball and 1957 football as advertised? Has anyone disovered an unopened 1952 Topps pack?

It says

"and could contain one of the following "Treasure" prizes:"

Anytime I read that something "could" be something....I move on....

Bob,

These Tri-Star boxes mostly contain packs from the 1986-1992 "junk wax" era of the modern hobby. Unopened packs from those years are available, but usually are seeded 1:million or something ridiculous like that. I would stay away unless you want to open some cheap modern packs.

James

I don't think you need a promotion to sell a genuine 1952 Topps unopened pack (high # no less). There are more than enough buyers willing to pay top dollar for them.

But that's an extremely deceptive ad because it shows a 52 pack smack in the middle of the cellophane. What else is new?

I don't know, but have heard it contains a lot of junk years.

I remember in the 1990s when Wall Mart had their own boxes of assorted cards and autograph, and it was a pretty good deal. I remember they had one box where you were guaranteed a Tony Gwynn autographed baseball with COA. You got your money's worth. I remember I bought two, not certain I would actually get a Gwynn ball. After I did from both, I went back and bought the rest. I additionally got a John Schmoltz autograph from one of them.

I didn't get anything interesting from the box I opened. But I did get some "exciting" '86, '87, '88, and '89 Topps and Donruss star cards. Great, exactly what I didn't need.

Funny, "Could contain..." And I "could" find a roll of hundreds on West 19th Street.
