Default "Black Aces" autographs

Hi, I usually stay on the baseball card side of N54, but I'm hoping someone knowledgeable in 1950s-1970s baseball autographs can give me a quick opinion.

I am hoping to make a framed display of the 12 Black Aces featured in Mudcat Grant's book of the same name (list below). Other than Sam Jones, who died very young, are there any of these autographs that would be considered tough? My first choice is to combine card + cut auto, but I don't want to create a situation where I can only get 10 of 12 autos.

While I'm at it, I'll note my very first choice would be auto on the card from the year the Black Ace joined the club. However, I'm assuming in this case something like a 1959 Topps Sam Jones would be nearly impossible on the moderate budget I'm on.

Thanks,
Jason

You shouldn't have any problems finding any of those autographs, but you may have to settle on a 3x5 or cut for Sam Jones. Speaking of Jones, he was also called Toothpick Jones, so don't get confused with the one they call Sad Sam Jones, or even the Sam Jones that played basketball. To add to the confusion, I've seem some dealers call the same Jones you're looking for both Toothpick and Sad Sam.
Also, most of those guys are still signing, either through the mail or at shows that do mail order. If you can't find a signed card you like, you could buy a card and send it to be signed.
Sounds like a fun project...Good Luck.

I would think the most expensive part of this would be the framing. If you buy a cheap frame and mount them yourself then you can do it on a budget. If you take it somewhere for them to put it together professionally I would think they would charge $300+. The Jones stuff might run you more than the rest but most are going to be cheap.

Thx guys! Then it sounds like the project is a go! And so true on Jones...I will have to be careful not to get the wrong Sam Jones.
