Default 1893 Just So Baseball Question/Request

I was wondering if anyone on Net 54 can help me with a current project Im working on. Im trying to compile a scan of at least one of each player in the 1893 Just So baseball "set" and have yet to see a reference where all of the known players are depicted.

I already have scans of Boyd, Burkett, Childs, Clarkson, Cuppy, McKean, O'Connor, Tebeau, Young, and Zimmer. I was wondering anyone can provide me with decent resolution scans (however, I'll take what I can get at this point) of these other four known players:

1) Davies
2) Hastings
3) Virtue
4) Williams

What about any uncat cards (I know this is even a bigger reach, but I have to ask). Any help would be greatly appreciated. I can also be contacted at EANGYAL@roadrunner.com. Thanks in advanced.

Default Thanks.........

Mark,

I appreciate the scans. I wasn't clear enough in my request. I was actually looking for scans of the Just So cards of those 4 players.

I initally assumed that you wanted card scans - but after a careful reading I thought otherwise. No big deal.

I'll try an dig up a xerox copy of the Davies card, sent to me some 15 years ago by our own Barry Sloate.

Did I have a Davies? That must be the one I offered in an SCD ad about 15 years ago. I don't recall keeping a photocopy of it.

Default well

Barry, I'm almost positive it was Davies. At the time he was uncatalogued, and there was a smidge of doubt in my mind that perhaps it was not-yet-HOFer George Davis instead of George Davies, who played only very briefly for the Spiders. Yes, the ad was in SCD and I contacted you to see if it was still available. You sent a xerox copy and a brief note that it was sold. I kept the copy as part of my research, but alas, that project, while still somewhere, is probably in that proverbial safe place where I won't find it.

Davies rings a bell, now that you mention it.

Note that known images of Davies are scarce as far as I know, I have only seen a woodcut. I have never seen a reproduction of his Just So card.

I just went through my file of old SCD ads and it was in fact Davies. Unfortunately, the picture used in the ad is smaller than a postage stamp and blurry, almost useless. But it was definitely him. So at least it can be confirmed as existing.
