How do people usually do things like this. There are a few lots that i am interested in .... but not sure how people have done this in the past. Advice and opinions would be great.

If you know someone who might have a similar interest in a lot as you do, contact them direct and see if they're interested is splitting the lot. Then negotiate the terms such as top bidding price, division of the lot, who pays what percentage, bidding strategy, who will do the bidding/leg work etc...I had a bidding partner in the last Mastro and Mastro was willing to split the lot and ship to two seperate addresses for a nominal increase in their shipping fee.

If you don't know anyone, post a thread and see if any board members would be interested in joining you on a particular lot.

Brian E.

Hey Ted,

You've got the right idea. If you're not sure who may be out there who has the same interests as you, the forum is a great place to find out. Starting a thread like this to bring people together is something that we've done before in the weeks before a large auction. I may end up searching for a couple partners myself on this thread. Good luck!

Anyone thinking about making a serious run at the e90-3 lot, please get in touch with me. I'm willing to be flexible and am willing to take on several of the trimmed cards as well. Thanks in advance,

I am interested in possibly going to for the m116 lot. I know it will probably go for a large amount but if there are a few or one member who would like to go together let me know. I forget what the lot number is, but once you see it you'll know.

Well, Leon axed my thread and didn't reprint it here like he did the other 2, so I guess I need to post it again. I am dead serious about going after the E94 lot of 14 cards in Mastro's auction. There are several ways to split things up, personally I'd like a HOFer or two and maybe a common, but however it is split, there are plenty of nice caramels to go around. Now that Tim S. is narrowing his focus, my bidding partner on these E94 cards is gone
Let me know.
Bob

TBob - I may be interested. But got a question - what's on the third line of the SGC label. It's tough to read online. Does it say "Nagy collection"?

If so...ugh. Does this mean if I own the card, it still belongs to Nagy?

Sorry about that. I should have copied your thread too. Please carry on...and good luck on the E94's. In the other thread I think it was BCD and Barry that said they would like to speak with you about it....regards

Brian- Of course we can speak about the E90-3 lot; and Bob, I'm intersted in anything left over in the E94 lot- you can even upgrade from the Mastro lot and send your downgrades my way if you'd like. As a noncollector I am extremely flexible- just looking for a good value from my end. Feel free to email me.

I have been following this forum religiously every night and finally decided to join. Looking at this auction on-line made my jaw drop.
If anyone wins the M116 Sporting Life Wagners (either background) or the W502 Ruth please let me know. I have got to get these cards...somehow.

Welcome to the forum, but I would guess that Wagner card will be coveted by others, too.

There was a Wagner m116 Pastel SGC 60 for sale by itself in the last Matro auction. Yours truly snagged it.

Thanks, Barry, I have bid in a number of your excellent auctions (and would have bid in the last one, but I dropped some cash on the last Hunt auction....). You are right about the Wagner, but it was worth a try advertising my interest, I suppose (there are also two in that lot...). I am totally envious of the other member who snagged the M116 Wagner in the last Mastro auction. I saw it, but it exceeded my limit. That is why I was hoping that Mastro would break up the Sporting Life set when I read about it in SCD (I can also see why they did not)--an SGC40 Wagner would go for considerably less than the SGC60 snagged by the other member.

Is anyone else as bummed as I am that Mastro did not break up some of their awesome lots to a greater extent and give us 'poorer' guys a chance?

PS I enjoy this forum immensely. It has provided many nights of amusement and a real education in the hobby.

I don't think a Mastronet auction is put together for the "poorer guys." I think they cater to the wealthy. Perfectly fine, no harm done.

About the M116 lot. I did not read well enough into what they were offering. That off the table I would like to find someone that is interested in going in with me for the D304 lot. I am really only interested in the matty, but would be willing to go in with someone to split the lot or three people for that matter I don't care.

Well, it looks like the M116 set is taking off on ebay. Maybe collectors are finally waking up on this set. Granted there are no action shots, all portraits and only 2 or 3 of the cards depict guys with hats on, but it is a beautiful set with many very tough cards...
