Default Old Cardboard closed?

I wanted to check a card on the Old Cardboard website, clicked on their link and was promptly taken to---------PureHost, a website hosting service.

Has Lyman closed the doors and taken down the shingle? I hope not.

Cheers, Mike

Default Old Cardboard Website

Unfortunately, the Old Cardboard website has been down since yesterday morning. The problem is with our hosting service, PureHost, and they say they are actively working on the problem. We hope that it is back up very soon but have no timetable assurances from PureHost.

On the brighter side, PureHost has provided well over 99 percent uptime over the decade and a half that they have been our website provider.

We regret the inconvenience for our viewers and will continue to escalate the trouble ticket with PureHost until resolved. We appreciate your patience.

Thank you for the update, Lyman. Your website is far too important for most of us, and I shudder at the thought of losing it.

Cheers,
Mike

+1

I find myself going to oldcardboard all the time for prewar cards and sets that I know nothing (or very little) about. It is definitely a wealth of knowledge!

It's like the first episode of James Burke's Connections. Now who's got the plow? Or a more esoteric reference?

I'm just glad to hear that Lyman didn't run off with the $20 I sent him for my lifetime subscription!

I heard that was the plan!! That being said, it must be something serious as they are still not back up.....I go to their site frequently too. It is a great resource for the hobby.

It's back up....sort of. When you click on a set it has the photo, but no info, and this message:

error '80004005' /includes/dataFunctions.asp, line 156

Default Old Cardboard Is Back Up

After several very frustrating days in dealing with a non-responsive Tech Services Department at the hosting provider for the Old Cardboard website, we decided it was time to transition the website to a new host provider.

That process is now complete and the OC website is back in full operation at www.oldcardboard.com. This was by far our longest outage in well over a decade since OC was launched and we are very optimistic that interfacing with our new provider will be much smoother.

We apologize for any inconvenience for our website users and appreciate your patience over the past few days.

Lyman and Brett,

Sometimes a problem leads to a much better solution. In this case, it looks as though it may have.

Glad to have your site operational once again--we all missed it!

Cheers,
Mike
