Default T206 Blank Back - Newly Discovered - Feedback Wanted

Recently, we made a purchase of low grade T206's that included several HOFers, but almost every card had significant tape staining from having been attached to poster boards.

The story behind the collection was pretty interesting and has been posted to our blog. There was one card that appeared to be blank-backed and not a skinned example. We have just received confirmation from SGC that the Emil Batch is a blank-back and wanted to share that with the N54 board and also solicit feedback as to the approximate value. We estimate that the card is in the $500-1000 range, and are trying to make certain as we plan on forwarding an additional payment to the person from whom we purchased the collection. We are not looking to solicit offers and are not presenting the card for sale at this time, but just wanted to share with the community as well as get some feedback.

Thanks to all for your anticipated responses.

Here are the images:

Ahh yes, I was wondering what else would show up with that tape. Great find.

Default T206 Blank back

Congratulations on the nice find of T206 cards! Even lower grade blank back T206's usually will bring over $1000. Good luck with the collection.

Cool; odd that you would offer only $750K for a complete NM or better set of T206s when the Wagner alone would fetch that no problem.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/T206-Addie-J...IAAOSw1KxXNPhz

And labeling this card a VG/EX in the title with text like this: "T206 Addie Joss Pitching Cleveland. This card appears VG/EX or better. This card features a Sweet Caporal back. This card exhibits tape residue and/or stains. Although technical grade is lower, we have provided the grade the card appears if it did not have the stain and/or residue."

Makes me smack my head. But... the card does have tape damage and a huge stain down the middle... right?

Actually, our buy price is $750,000.00 and up. Here's a simple challenge: present us with a NM set with a NM Wagner and our offer will be significantly higher. In a world of conjecture, trying to apply absolutes doesn't serve much purpose.

Oh, look! A squirrel...

Yes, the card does have a stain, the image and the description clearly state that. If you have an issue with an additional description of the condition, I'm sorry. Hope you're not smacking your head too hard. It is only cardboard and isn't worth physically harming yourself in such disbelief.

Thanks for the responses. Just seems tone-deaf. Call a poor card a poor card. It doesn't present well for Poor. It's poor.

Am I correct in assuming that all of the cards would receive a qualifier (ST, MK) if graded by PSA?

Highly likely unless you did a really good soak job on them.

That was my next question, would soaking improve the condition of the cards? I don' t see how the tape stripe is going to be removed.

Default Great card!

printers scrap has not been fully understood yet by many collectors....

Art + 1

their is much future for scrap since they are so"unique" and "one of a kinds"... printer puzzle pieces...

most blank backs only have one example.....some have a twin.......very very very few have a triple.....cobb red port??? the only example I think that 3 exist, cobby red port???

I own 20 blank back t206, I think I may have picked up a thing or 2 about them

scraps and factory cut/produced oddities are almost 2 different animals....

their a few "whales" if you will who have liquidated their collections....

education on the scrap will definitely be the future of t206..(as in the bl 460 correlation to sc 460 yellow browns).. examples such as this batch bb..... very rare....condition not so much the issue...

only a little over the quarter of the set has been confirmed as blank back....there is a lot to be learned/discovered.....as these little gems are discovered...

they look like "trash" at first, but then you see the treasure

scraps will continue to be chased due to inherently what they are....

blank backs fall directly into this category.....

"only a little over the quarter of the set has been confirmed as blank back..."

Is there a list? If not, should we start one?
