If you could identify the stadium by the little bit of grandstand showing, you would be on your way. Are you sure that postcard is period? It looks a little funky.

Yep, it's period Barry. I thought about that too, but then I googled "maurice Wells & Co" and found out they made mostly novelty postcards circa 1907. The guy who won the card is an expert at baseball postcards....so is the bidder just below me.

It doesn't work all the time, in fact many times not at all. But sometimes in this situation, if you have a modern state of the art magnifying glass, and look over the photo very carefully, sometimes tucked in a corner or in the far background, you can spot clues. I have had success several times. I bought a photo that an expert couldn't name the city or the park. After about 5 minutes, and much eye strain, I found out the city and park. It's been years so I can't recall the whats and the wheres, but give it a try. You never know. I keep one on my desk at all times. Even on old photos it's amazing what you can spot if you try. And when you magnify, it is like time travel. Looking into the past. Kind of cool.

Mike, better than using a magnifying glass is to scan the photo at high resolution and then use the magnifying feature of your photo editing program. I've identified many old photos from the scoreboards.

Dan, you must be under the impression I am a techie. I had my water softener fixed today. that is about as tech wise as I get. But seriously, thanks for the info. I will look (No pun intended) into it.
