Default What should I spend my money on?

Posted By: Henry Eshelman

For Christmas I'm getting about $600 to spend on vintage cards. I'm debating about what to get. i think I'm going to build on my t206 HOF 2's and 3's and pick up a cobb beater hopefully. But i want to also contribute some of the money to either start a set of t201's or e93's which set should I do and which cards should I buy?

Thanks, Henry Eshelman

You can't go too wrong with a T206 Cobb. As for E93 vs. T201, I think E93s are much nicer and more desirable. T201s are cool cards, but the images of the player's faces are sort of generic. But this too is why they are more affordable than most T cards. I am biased, as you can tell from my login name, but I think the images on E93s are among the nicest from the era.

If you are collecting for yourself. There is no right or wrong if you enjoy the cards. If you are concerned with money, profits and investments in cards more than buying what you like, you will have to do the same homework you would have to do before buying stocks or bonds; the folks here really cannot give you investment advice.

E93's by far. theres only 30 cards, and its possible to collect the set vary easily. just have to keep your eyes open. on here i saw about 10 e93s one person had and i missed them . so its do-ible! for the cobb, yeah its a vary good investment, but i would rather have mid grade E93s then a 1 cobb, my opinion......

the standard caramels have a good representation of all the hof'ers, and because of this if you want to complete the set you'll have to shell out some extra money. now if u just want an e cobb and wagner u could try the e95s. i consider this set the lighter version of the e93s. it cuts out some hof'ers (young, lajoie, joss, waddell comes to mind) while keeping the other biggies like cobb, wagner, matty, plank...even have some nice portrait poses if you're into that sort of thing.

it will be easier to afford a higher grade set of
t-201's then the e93's. The t-201's are gaining in popularity over the last year as have many others.
WIth the broad range of collectors now in pre war,
there will always be availibity as well as buyers.

Good luck!
