Default SGC & Strip Cards

Posted By: Paul

I just received three W551's back, & all are graded Authentic. Two of the cards are full size 1 3/8" x 2 1/4", & the other is 1/32" short in one area. I was told by SGC that the cards not only have to be full size, but some of the dotted cut line needs to be showing. I mentioned that I own a few SGC graded strip cards & have seen others that are graded, & they dont meet that criteria. I was told those were mistakes. I personaly think a strip card should be graded if it's full size. Also, I think they should be graded if it's cut nicely, but only a little short, & that should be part of the grade. I normally don't like qualifiers, but a "cut small" qualifier could be added, & that would help explain the lower grade. I know many of you dont like strip cards, but obviously I do. They are not my favorites, but I still collect them.

I like strip cards.

I have no interest in a slabhouse's opinion. Really: why do you?

I like some strips too... they're very unique and far more difficult to find that other cards.

Do you have scans of your new W551s? SGC is pretty inconsistent with grading strips, atleast for me they have been. I submitted the W515 Ruth strip to SGC first, it came back too small (not even holdered as authentic). So I submitted it to PSA and it got an 8. Its almost like you have to make sure the person grading the cards knows what strips are and understands how large/small they should be. Some will say, well yeah SGC knows, but there are graders who are completely clueless to sizes. I also think all graded cards should be catalogued not only by certification number, but each and every should be scans or photocopied or something.

I'd resubmit, email Sean (check this thread: http://www.network54.com/Forum/153652/thread/1138639977/last-1138711676/SGC+Service+Issues) or send to PSA.

Good luck,
Kyle

I sent in a W517 mini with the lines showing; still came back as undersized.

I bought a few SGC graded W551's, so I thought I would send in my ungraded cards & try to complete an SGC graded set. Other than that I dont feel the need to always have them graded. I'll try to post some scans as soon as I can.
