Babe Ruth Photo in Old Cardboard

I was looking at the latest issue on Old Cardboard and got to the stereoview article (great 3D by the way). The photo of Ruth batting caught my attention for a few reasons, never seen him in such a snug uniform, never quite seen that batting pose & his bat seems to have 2 rings on it (don't remember seeing any old bats with rings). IS this not odd or have I smelled too many bowlingshoes?

Are there other photos similar of the pose or bat?

Hazards of the job. The shoe spray kills lots of things including HIV.

Anyone have an answer to my questions?
