I am very psyched about this E93 upgrade that arrived yesterday. It is from a recent original "find" of E93s that were passed from grandfather (original collector in 1910) to father to son.

Dan McKee said that he was sending me a NM7 oddball Lefty Grove card as a gift. The card below showed up in my mailbox today. I'll be sending it off tomorrow to PSA, hoping for the extra 1/2 grade increase to a NM+7.5

Thanks, Dan!

Brad, you may get that extra .5 but I still think you'll get a qualifier. MC or ST or maybe OC -- however I'm not certain where the top and bottom are.

Dan, incredible Plank.

Jim, I again have to agree with Quan on this one. In addition, at some point you'll find that PSA simply does not give grades of 11 on E93s. What will you collect once you figure this out? Here's a thought: anything but Ty Cobb cards.

Nice pick-ups by all. JimB, your a tough act to follow. That card is unbelievable & I can see why you were psyched. A few months back someone mentioned how the economy would affect prices on higher graded cards. I'm not sure about other issues or sets, but I have been snagging T206s in EX-MT condition at affordable prices.

Quan and Jeff,
Thanks. I know that upgrading E93s will not lead to nirvana, but perhaps a temporary reprieve from the sufferings of samsara may be all I can ask for. Actually, they have not really been my focus lately, mostly because of the five possible upgrades, I knew where four were and that they were not moving. But this one sort of fell on my lap last week and I could not say, "No". I am always interested in upgrading if the opportunity arises, but my focus is elsewhere at the moment. I've got to say though, this is the card that has gotten me most excited in a while. E93s just do it for me. Jeff, were you suggesting Cobbs as an alternative focus?

Jeff - nice Chase. Also one of my favorite Chase images, and favorite images from the era for that matter.

I always know this is a high-end place when someone posts something that sends me looking for a dictionary or on a google search. Samsara? Off I go!

Joann

(By the way JimB - not only is it a great card, but very nice that it is also a Detroiter. Makes it even nicer to look at in my opinion.)

Paul - gulp is all I can say. These oversized baseball cards sure can be expensive.

And Jim, I just got off the phone with both Sam and Sara and they assured me that their suffering would end if only you'd send me your E93 Brown in exchange for my collection of 1974 Washington National Leaguers.

Jim- what is the average weighted grade of your E93 set? The 7 is great but you have 8's and 9's too. It must be pretty amazing.

I believe the weighted average is 7.75 although that does not count one upgrade (Clarke in an SGC 84) that my registry lists as PSA 6. I traded my 6 to a board member for his SGC 84. It was very kind of him to help me out. I think I will try to cross that at the National just so all of them are in the same holders.

I agree Jim 7.75 avg. weighted E93 set is fair and acceptable 7.85 avg weighted scale well now that would be just plain ostentatious. Jim you're E93's have runied all E-cards for me...I wonder why dont any of mine look that nice.

Tim great looking Rube!

Jim, that is truly an incredible accomplishment with a set of such age and relative rarity in high grade. I'm wondering how excited you must be at the thought of explaining to your son what will someday be his....

I know it's difficult to differentiate between most 1922-23-24 exhibits.

However, I'm going to go out on a limb and call this one a '23 ......

Scott, I am told it's a 1922 though SGC slabbed my Cutshaw as a 1921.
