Default Help with photo identificaion

Hello, I started collection photos and negatives a couple of months ago. Most of the time I know exactly what I'm purchasing, but I need some help identifying excactly what is going on in this photo.

It's obviously Red Rolfe of the Yankees receiving an award. It's got to be from the late '30s and I also recognize Joe McCarthy.
Does anyone know what year this would be from and identify anyone else in the photo? Is that Babe Ruth all the way to the left?

Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not a Yankee guy so other experts should be able to help you a lot more but I'll say the guy second from right in the front row of the group is Bill Dickey....and that definately looks to be Ruth.

Possibly the presentation of most valuable player of the International League, 1933, award?

Oh yes, I guess the shin guards could have also been a hint there..

Ok, that works and would place the photo in 1934 and would explain the presence of Ruth, as that would be his last year with the Yanks..

I would have wondered why an IL trophy was presented at Yankee Stadium but a perusal of the New York Times archives (search: Rolfe+trophy) yielded a mention that Rolfe was indeed presented said trophy on May 30, 1934 between games of a Yanks-Senators doubleheader. The OP can pm me and I will send a .pdf file of the article (although the mention is brief and names no names). Incidentally, I will take a wild stab and claim that the player standing behind the Yank at the very right is the Iron Horse - his face is almost totally obstructed but the shoulders and haircut suggest Gehrig.

This photo has turned out to be way cooler than when I orginally purchased it. Thanks to everyone for their time and input.
