I was lucky enough to attend a Final Game at Busch celebration this past September. Here's a few pics with some former players, a manager, and the latest HOFer...

Not quite the place for classic cards. This was taken this past June at approx. 79 degrees north latitude. This is why I take a 6 month break from collecting each year (that and the restrictions the wife imposses).

Yours truly with the Dalai Lama in 2004 when I did some translation work for him.

Yours truly at Namtso Lake in Tibet. Elevation: 15,000 feet. Those are 25,000+ Himalayan peaks in the background. The lake is salt water. Think about that for a minute.

In 1972, long before I met her, Jeannette travelled from Alberta, Canada to Russia just to watch Team Canada play the Soviets. She got to see Henderson's winning goal! As our resident Canucks will tell you, in Canada this is Big Time, like being there for Thomson's homer, Armstrong's small step for man, and the invention of French Kissing all rolled into one. Ya gotta love a woman like this!

That's me and my son Michael--the photographer always makes him scrunch down so he'll fit in the photo. I'm 5'8",but he's 6'5'. This year just the two of us went the the annual event, and got to welcome the new additions to the team, Frank Thomas and Esteban Loaiza. 3 weeks from today I'll be in AZ watching baseball!! Could anything be finer?

A few from our small, at-home wedding in August 2004. It's the 2nd time up at bat for both of us (second and LAST, we can only hope...) The little people are my darlings from my previous marriage, and Jon's stepdarlings.

Comedy relief from our littlest one (now almost 6, then just a little over 4 yrs.) -- making it clear he'd had just about enough of all this wedding stuff, thankyouvery much. Having already ripped off his vest and stomped off in a huff, he had at this point just returned, only to inquire about having some of that wedding cake he'd seen earlier.

I love all cars that can put some power to the ground.

Here are a couple shots of me at the Silver State Classic (US highway 318) doing around 140mph on a straight stretch.

And me with Bo Duke (John Schneider) before the race. His Hemi powered '69 Charger wouldn't make it the full 90 miles but would live to race another day.

Joe Gonsowski

Cool looking set of "wheels"....what year is your Chevelle ?

I am a Ford guy; however, I appreciate all "American Heavy Metal" cars.
I have 2 classic Thunderbirds and both are the same Green color as
your Chevelle. Being newer, yours has more a metallic Green than my
1957 or 1960 T-Birds; which are more of a pastel color.

Also, what engine is under the hood ?

Hey Ted,
Well its a 1972 300 deluxe coupe. theres only 441 made with this option. altra-rare car. and only one exist to today that i no of. the engine is a 350cu in. with a quada-jet 4 barrel. has about 265 hp(not original engine)and 360 foot pounds of torque. 4:10 posi rear end minimum slip differential. the pic in the thread was a awhile ago, now its a different color, and a supercharger on it. has everything else original. since the enigne isnt original the car isnt worth more than 15K. i paid alot less for it when i was restoring it.
i like older cars and t-birds r it also lol happy restoring!

I've seen both of Ted's T-Birds and their beauts, especially that '57. Great year for cars, jazz, and Topps baseball cards. My Honda CRV goes from 0 to 55...eventually.

It's the year I graduated High School. 1957 Chevys were the
hot car with their Fuel Injection. JAZZ was "jumping" in a
great NY nightspot called Birdland. I saw Dizzy Gillespie,
Jack Teagarden, Gerry Mulligan, Dave Brubeck Quartet, and
the inimitable Gene Krupa at Birdland back in the late '50s.

But, in Hillside, NJ "there was no joy in Mudville" in 1957
because our hope was fading fast that we'd ever again open
up those Red, White & Blue wax packs to have our favorite
Bubble gum and 5 colorful Bowman BB cards.

Those are impressive specs. on your Chevelle. Here are my numbers.

1957 T-Bird

312 cu. in V-8, 245 HP, 4-barrel Holley carb., Torque = 332 ft/lbs,
and a 3.70 rear end ratio.
It has a 3-speed floor shift with Overdrive (I love that feature).
Like yours, this one is a rare "bird", only 300 of 27,000 models in
1957 were Willow Green.

1960 T-Bird

352 cu. in. V-8, 300 HP, Torque = 381 ft/lbs, 4-barrel Holley carb.

I've spoken to customers over the phone for years and I make a mental picture of what I think each of them looks like by the sound of their voice- and when I meet them they never look anything like I imagined. I know exactly what you are saying.

I, too, am a fan of the automobile, although my tastes may be somewhat different than the rest of the boards. I have grown up around classic's so after a lot of saving and the shrewd stock decisions in the late 1990's, I bought myself these babies (well the new Jag came last year)...

Now, I love to get my hands dirty as well, and I restored this classic from a bushel basket of parts with my father over the last 5 years (starting when I was a freshman in college).

Now, I'm not one to shy away from speed either, so this is to make up for the lack of speed that above pictured roadtser has...
