101) DOLPH LUQUE AUTOGRAPHED 1940 PLAYBALL BASEBALL CARD #231 Unquestionably one of the most difficult signed cards needed to complete this popular set. Signed boldly in pencil. Card is in outstanding condition except for glue residue on the reverse from where it was once attached to a page in a scrapbook. Nicknamed "The Pride of Havana" considered to be the first great Cuban born major leaguer. He pitched from 1914-1935 for the Boston Nationals, Reds, Brooklyn & Giants. Most notably a member of the World Champion 1919 Reds, He led the league in wins in 1923 with an impressive 27-8 record. He returned to Cuba shortly after his major league career where he coached and managed until his death in Havana in 1957. $650.00
102) MIKE GONZALEZ AUTOGRAPHED 1940 PLAYBALL BASEBALL CARD #115 Cuban born Gonzalez represents another all time toughie in completing this signed set. Signed boldly in pencil, there is minor glue residue on the reverse from where it was once attached to a scrapbook and to a lesser extent minor residue on the front none of which affects the signature. Played and managed in the major leagues 1912-1932 for Boston nationals, Reds, Cardinals, Giants, Cubs. He returned to Cuba where he died in 1977. $450.00
103) ART FLETCHER AUTOGRAPHED 1940 PLAYBALL BASEBALL CARD #125 Tough signed card in the set. Bold pencil signature , card itself is in excellent condition except for minor glue residue on reverse from where it was once attached to a page in a scrapbook. The card is dark and a portion of the signature does not contrast well. Fletcher played for the 1909-1922 Giants, Phillies but is best remembered as a coach for the fabled 1927 New York Yankees. Was only a 10 year window for Fletcher to sign the card between its release in 1940 and his death in 1950. $450.00
105) JAKE "MOOSE" SOLTERS AUTOGRAPHED 1940 PLAYBALL BASEBALL CARD #126 Signed boldly in pencil. Card and signature excellent condition , very minor glue residue on reverse from where it was once attached to a page in a scrapbook. Solters played for 1934-1943 Red Sox, Browns, Cleveland, & White Sox. A Tough autograph he died in 1975. $250.00

109) ED BARROW AUTOGRAPHED NEW YORK YANKEES CHECK 1930 Measures 3 1/4 x 9, Dated July 30th , 1930 To Clarence Straub and endorsed on the reverse by him. Signed on the front by Hall of Famer ED BARROW Yankees executive Inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1953 he died in 1953. $100.00
110) CECIL TRAVIS VINTAGE FULL PAGE HANDWRITTEN LETTER 1941 COMES WITH ORIGINAL MAILING ENVELOPE letter measures 8 1/2 x 11, written on "Travis Brothers Nurseries" letterhead and dated Feb 8th, 1941. Travis played for Washington Senators 1933-1947 , he led the league in hits in 1941 with 218. He died in 2006. $45.00
112) RED ROLFE VINTAGE TYPEWRITTEN LETTER 1939 WITH ORIGINAL MAILING ENVELOPE Letter measures 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 , written and signed when Rolfe had just completed his BEST major league season with the World Champion Yankees in 1939. Rolfe played for the Yankees from 1931, 1934-1942. He died in 1969. $75.00
113) BILL NICHOLSON VINTAGE HANDWRITTEN LETTER 1942 WITH ORIGINAL MAILING ENVELOPE letter measures 6 x 9 1/2 and is written on the letterhead of "Hotel Sheridan Plaza" in Chicago. Written when Nicholson was in the prime of his career, he led the league in RBI in 1943 & 1944, played for the 1936 Athletics, 1939-48 Cubs, and 1949-53 Phillies "Whiz Kids" he died in 1996. $45.00
113) HANK GOWDY VINTAGE HANDWRITTEN LETTER 1941 WITH ORIGINAL MAILING ENVELOPE Letter measures 8 1/2 x 11 and is written on the letterhead of "The Athletic Club" Hotel in Columbus Ohio. Played in the major leagues from 1910-1930 for the Braves and Giants he is best remembered as a member of the 1914 "Miracle Braves" he died in 1966. $75.00
