This carton is from the wrong factory to have cards in the packs. To the best of my knowledge I believe all T200's came from factory 25. This carton seems to be much later than is printed on the flip too....

I love that seller. Whenever I need a laugh I check out his auctions. He really should have been a late night infomercial frontman with all his theatrics that go into selling his stuff.

He would descibe a 2002 AROD insert card as:

RARER Than BABE RUTH $1,000,000 Card, 1/1 Holy Cow!

This auction needs to be pulled. The bidding is already at $3000.

Why hasn't anyone comment on the grading company in regard to this item? I have some great verbs to discribe this auction/grading but my mother told me not to put them in print.
Did Gai move to Florida and join the team ?

How did GAI come up with a date for this box?

Are you suggesting that the packs may contain T222?

Don't know why I only thought T200...I guess that is what the seller is touting and that is why. Regardless of that unless there is an overprint on that stamp it's impossible to date this box to a specific year, to the best of my knowledge. And to me it looks like a later box but admittedly I have not handled a carton like that one....regards

If you look closely this carton contains 25 packages of 4 cigarettes. These sample packs were done 30 to 40 years after
the date specified by the seller. The cards that the seller says are in these packages were inserted in tins not packs. Who exactly is the expert at the grading company that is dating these type items and what is his or her specific expertise?

I e-mailed the seller to ask if he guarantees there are T200's in the packs and received this response:

SORRY ALAN,

I DON'T GUARANTEE THAT. THERE ARE MANY UNANSWERED QUESTIONS ABOUT WHAT THEY CAME IN. THERE IS THE CHANCE BUT I CAN NOT GUARANTEE. BEST OF LUCK. RAYMOND

I didnt even look at the description that close at first, didnt know it had 25 packs. They would be small packs. So it looks like there is only 100 cigarettes in the whole box.

I owned on of these boxes (empty), mine was similar by not exactly the same. I was also told it was from many years after the T200s and T222s.

Here was the one I had.

to being a period piece. The earliest I have owned was a circa 1921 carton and this one easily dates 15-25 years beyond that. No Fatima baseball cards came in soft packs although the later non-sport issues probably did. It appears they are packs of FOUR cigarettes - substantially too small to accomodate a card. Furthur confirmation can be garnered from the tax stamp - it had to be a special issue for the configuration - from the warning label - whose wording changed periodically - the introduction of "extra mild" - and a few other lines of exploration such as factory designations. Truth is it isn't worthy of any further research as it's just a weak "go-with" without substantial relationship to the cards. I would pay about 100.00 for it - because of the novelty. Most interesting however is the fact it was slabbed by GAI - giving the description on the flip/authentication an inferred credibility. Beyond that - it's one ugly looking package when presented that way. In the interests of full disclosure - I own a Sweet Caporal pack with all the proper bells and whistles other than the solitary 1909 stamp (as opposed to the 1909/series 1910) - and I had GAI put it in a slab for me at the national a few years ago........

Whenever I see this guy's auctions on eBay, I do a couple of things:

1) Read through the large font listing and LAUGH

2) Find his pre-auction estimate and subtract two zero's.

Listings by this guy (and many others) doesn't pass the smell test.

Why, if the piece is so valuable, does he list it on eBay and for such a small opening bid? Why not send it to a major aucion house?

If he believes there are cards in the packs, why not open them up? IF they have been sealed for this many years, there might be tobacco stains (at worst) on them but everything else should be in really nice condition. If that were so, then it would be REAL easy to get the cards graded and sell them individually.

People who bid on this guys auctions DO NOT use their common sense. If what he has is SOOOO valuable, then why is he willing to let it go at such a low price?? I guess he is so rich that he can just give money away to the less fortunate....

David

Some unsuspecting collector paid $4000.00 for the carton. What
a joke.
