Default A swing and a miss

Posted By: Joe D.

I didn't win it.... but I thought this photo was awesome.

Babe Ruth action shot... but showing a swing and a miss.

He looks like he gave it everything he had... and thats why I liked the photo so much.

I already thought of hanging it up on the wall and telling my son....

"Do you see, that is greatness!"

my son would surely answer 'but he didn't hit the ball'

to which I would answer -

"Yes, but it was his willingness to miss like this, that lead to all of the successes he had. Gotta give it everything you have, even if it means you are going to miss some times. Thats where greatness comes from."

Joe- it's a really cool image but I am wondering if it may be a later print of an earlier photograph. It's also very large, you don't see too many original photos that size. Maybe David Rudd can look at it and render an opinion.

The person selling it is a photo expert. And he does guarantee it for life. You can't get a better deal than that. Not sure why he makes the bidding private though.

I love that the two people who most need to keep their eyes on ball have them clamped shut .

I'm not sure what he is guaranteeing, though. What if it was taken in the 1920's and the negative was reused in the 1930's to make a larger print for distribution? It's still 75 years old, but it is not nearly as valuable. Looking at that description, something doesn't quite sit right with me... Paging David!
