Default Sadly a Good Net54 Friend Has Passed Away - RIP Jantz Morey aka Jantz

Sadly Jantz Morey has passed away. I don't have any details but was given a message from an anonymous person through the board. Jantz always seemed upbeat on the board. RIP friend.

So sad, he always seemed to be a really good guy. He was quite young. My family will pray for him and his family.

Met him once at a National. I'm a shy/quiet person, but he saw the net54 pin I had on and struck up a conversation and seemed very nice and humble and easy to talk to. Also seemed like a very happy person.
Only 51 yrs old. Sad. RIP Jantz.

Wow. We are losing too many members lately. Jantz was a great guy, May he Rest In Peace.

Not sure if it was posted here or not but we also lost Gil Maines last week.

I'm so sad to hear that Jantz passed away. I sat next to him at the Net54 dinner at the last Nationals that were held in Cleveland. He was very friendly and asked if I bought anything at the show. I sheepishly showed him a low grade Cy Young T206 that I had purchased that afternoon and expressed concerns that I had overpaid. He immediately replied, "Joe, I would be proud to have that card in my collection." His affirmation made me feel like a million bucks.

I have always appreciated his comments on the board, and he always responded in his posts with knowledge and kindness--a rare combination.

He will be in my prayers. God bless him and his family.

Joe

Unreal...way too young.

I only dealt with him once but it was such an enjoyable transaction, on some signed baseballs that he won in a charity auction on my behalf.
I wish I had followed up more on our newfound kinship, as he had a certain coolness to him that I envy.

RIP from a Net54 bro.

I am deeply saddened to read this news. Jantz was a very knowledgeable and respectful person. He will be terribly missed and always remembered.

Baltimore 2010: I remember chasing a guy down that has this bad ass Piedmont porcelain door push to ask where he got it. This was the first time I met Jantz in person and we immediately hit it off. He also pulled down some great deals on a few ghost images(back when they were a $100 each) for just over face value around $25-30 each. All I have are great memories of a great guy and hobby friend. Be well on your travels my friend.

I am deeply saddened by this news. Thanks to Net54, I first met Jantz at the 2008 National. And, I looked forward to each subsequent National to get together with him.
We would talk T206's for what seemed like hours at a time. We made some great trades, as Jantz would have some really great T206 front / back combos.
A really, really great guy, he will be missed.

GOD Bless his soul....and, may GOD comfort his family.

Default RIP good man

Reading his online obituary and comments it's plain to see he was a genuine, kind, easy-going and wonderful person. I had one message exchange with him over the years and indeed just in that message he was incredibly respectful and informative.

RIP Jantz

I, too, am deeply saddened by this news. I enjoyed talking to him every time that I would see him at the National in Cleveland. He always enjoyed hearing about the low end cards that I was interested in. He will really be missed.

So sorry to read this. Jantz was a sweet and friendly guy who loved the hobby. I loved seeing him at the occasional show and watching him light up when he talked about T206s.

Hopefully his family reads this thread and sees our condolences.

Talk about shocking news!
I met Jantz a few Nationals ago (with conversations as subsequent ones), and we ended up bird dogging cards for each other (Polar Bear T205s for him at the time). A wonderful guy all around who will be greatly missed.

Very sad to hear this. Jantz was one of the rare guys who I never actually did a deal with, but would just chat via email with a few times a year. I didn't know him real well, but would have liked to. In our correspondence, he was always super nice and of course very knowledgeable about about the T206 set. His family is in my thoughts.

Wow, this is a huge shock. I met Jantz at the 2015 National in Chicago after we had exchanged a lot of PM's. He was a fantastic guy who helped teach me a ton about T206 and we continued talking ever since. My sympathies to his family and friends, they lost a truly nice person.

So sad to hear this. I first met Jantz in person at the 2012 National in
Baltimore. I found him to be very likeable, honest and a knowledgeable
collector. I don't go to all the Nationals but we made arrangements to
meet up at the ones that I did attend. I didn't go to Chicago last
year but we had already talked about meeting up in Cleveland this year
I will miss his presence and I'll be thinking about him.

Very sad to read about this, especially at such a young age.

The online obit includes a place for messages, and I'm wondering (particularly for those who knew him) if it might be appropriate to link this thread in the message area for his family. It certainly would show that he had a great deal of support from the collecting community that he held near to his heart.

is just awful! I found out last night, and it has saddened me much....took a toll on me big time...

Jantz and I have been friends for 12 or so years......we spent hours on the phone talking T206 and fishing.....We had many trades together....it pains me to write this.....his long time girlfriend also passed a year ago....I'm sure they are reunited....

Jantz was an absolute expert on T206 and we shared info on the set ....

his contribution and personality will be painfully missed....

he was one of the most easy going , true , nice guys of the hobby and life....

he contributed so much to the hobby.....he was almost completed the polar bear subset and would carefully pick out each card....

he was planning on attending the national again this years.....also, he was looking forward to fishing soon....

this is still a shock.....

I am so deeply saddened to hear this news. Jantz was one of the nicest, easiest guys to deal with. Looking at my PM history, one of my last purchases was with Jantz. He was always helpful and always had a kind word. He will certainly be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

terrible news.. i also met Jantz at one of the nationals... he helped me get one of the Seymours SC 460 Fact 25s for my backrun...

I showed him my zack wheat overprint and he looked at it longer then normal said he had a screen saver of this card on his laptop.. just a fun memory that stands out for me when i think of Jantz... he will be missed... RIP

Best wishes to his family in this difficult time and I hope the fond memories forged with his friends and acquaintances last forever in their minds.

Default RIP Jantz

Sad to hear, I always enjoyed running into him at the Nationals. Definitely one of the good guys in the hobby, I will miss not running into him at the Nationals.
