Default Kudo's to Rob and REA

Posted By: leon

I feel the need to publicly thank Rob and REA. I received my last winnings (low five figures) 2 days after the auction ended. There was no way Rob had my check but I guess he trusted me. I won many other items in another big auction around the same time, emailed to see if I could get those sent out to me a little bit quicker than normal and advised the money order was in the mail a few days prior. I am still waiting for a response and my goodies....That's ok....I don't expect special treatment but it sure is nice to feel special and be treated that way...........regards

I'm by no means Leon or Barry Sloate. Emailed Rob on Friday advising asking if my check had arrived yet and inquiring about when winnings would ship, got an email back that he wasn't sure if my check was in Friday's mail or not but that he would ship my lot to me and that I'd have it Monday morning. My wife called at 8:30 this morning saying FedEx just left the house. Rob is definately a cut above the rest.

Nobody got their lots faster than me. I think mine came before the auction ended.

My win arrived this morning as well. Sent out Friday. Check hasn't cleared. Guess if you've won from REA before they trust you.

I posted it in the other thread, but Rob deserves all the accolades he is receiving - my winnings received the same incredible service; my check still hasn't cleared.

Maybe I should be posting more
since I mailed payment last Monday and no cards yet.

Then again, I'm used to getting my lots from auction houses
about 3-4 weeks after I mail the check, so I'm far from upset.

I hear ya Jay. I've been busy sorting through my Mastro wins since Thursday so I am ok with Rob not having shipped mine.

I haven't even gotten a confirmation from Mastro that mine are in transit yet. Thought I would have heard by now. Guess I can wait.

I get my items immediately as well and I know he didn't have my check as I hadn't written it yet! He is a very smart businessman. Also, I was charged $20 for shipping for $10K worth of stuff in a decent sized box. I spent close to $5K in Mastro and was hammered for $57 shipping. Go figure.

Leon-

You did discuss this with Scott? Or will this be the first and last Brockelman Luckey auction?

No, we haven't discussed it. But if you have never seen Scott in person.....he could crush me like a doodle bug. Of course I was joking.....but since Rob and I have had a difference of opinion on a few things in the past I thought it would be good to throw him a well deserved "atta boy". One minor thing.... I do wish there was a different method of closing to his auctions. Had it been different I might have bid 1-2 more increments on the D380 major league lot. All in all a nice auction though....

edited a little grammar

Rob, unlike so many so called dealers is a true professional.
He delivers what he promises.

As a consignor he pays within 10 days of auction closing.
He doesn't hold up a payment because one or two lots
have not been paid

45 days after an auction closes or 60 days is nothing more but
a chance for certain auction houses to earn interest on 5-7 million
dollars.

Rob's speed and integrity are only exceeded by his encyclopedic knowledge
of baseball history, baseball cards and the hobby.

When we ultimately sell our collection, Rob will be the company we
turn to. If you have truly priceless items and want superior service, prompt
payments and no excuses Lifson is the only one to trust.

Did your team vote on that, or is that an individual executive decision? Either way, Rob does indeed sell great service.

Rob recognizes something that I too have discovered in my years in the business, and that is the people in this hobby are for the most part honorable and trustworthy. In fact, I once said that I bet I could send out every lot in my auction the day after it closes (I can't actually pack that fast) and I would still be paid in full. Nobody would ever leave me holding the bag. Of course, for a new customer I've never dealt with before that might not be prudent. But for everyone else I can say right now I know they will come through for me.

(NOTE: please don't call two days after the auction complaining "where's my stuff, I haven't gotten it yet" )

Bruce- are you sure Rob pays 10 days after the auction closes? You may want to clear that with him. 10 days after my auction closes I've received less than half the checks. Rob would have to lay out millions of dollars in that scenario. I know he is fast, but I would verify that number with him.

I had a few consignments in the REA Auction and I received a check last Friday, approximately 5 days after the auction ended. Now, I didn't consign the Wagner or Baltimore News Ruth, but nonetheless I was pleased to receive payment so quickly.

FWIW, i spoke to Rob Lifson last tuesday (to thank him for sending out my item so fast) and he said they were very busy sending pieces out, as well as paying consignors, and that was the 2nd business day after the auction closed...

All these stories of great customer service -- and not a single mention of squeezing an additional $75 out of bidders on top of the highest Buyer's Premium in the business! Nice to see that REA continues to be the anti-Mastro.

In Mastro's defense Doug did say he would waive the fee for all Net54 members. It pays to be a member .....as far as getting my winnings fast...Did I mention he waived the $75 fee? .....

Well, he didn't waive it for me after I was forced to pay it and after having spent large sums in his auction. Maybe I'm just not pro-Mastro enough for his liking.

Dan -Mastro charges a $75 fee for the main auction catalog. Apparently this is now waived for net54s since Mastro needs some good press. Honestly I didn't even bother asking for it as whenever I try to log into that site I have problems.

That being said I got an email from REA with my fedex info for the 1 card I bought. I doubt he has even gotten my check although it went out either Friday or Sat, and we are only a state away. Regardless since I am very very impatient, I am very excited to know I will get my card in 2 days

I don't think I could do it better myself and I try every day.

If the winner of this item in the recent REA Auction is a Net 54 board member, would you please e-mail me at vguerrerobb@yahoo.com. I am very interested in purchasing it if available.

Thanks
