That's a pretty sweet 1.5! I assume there is back damage or something else the scan doesn't pick up?

Congrats either way!

Default Bresnahan P2 Pin

Picked up the last Bresnahan P2 Pin I needed.

It's the toughest of the 3 variations, the Mouth Open variation.

For the last few years, I have been slowly working on a project that reflects the 11 catchers that are in all three of these sets, S74 colored, T205, and P2 pin set and share the same pose. I now have completed all three sets for the 11 catchers.

It makes a super display. I'll get a picture up in the next few days.

Man, this forum has some great pick-ups every single month. Sam, your May haul is amazing. Congrats, and congrats to everyone else.

I just picked these up (other than the PSA Leever and Wilson) from Sportscardpete, which means that, together with this Wagner I picked up at REA earlier this month, I am one E104-2 Fred Clarke from a complete E104-2 Nadja Pirates set. Thanks Pete! Whose get my E104-2 Clarke??

I rarely have a card to add to the mix but I had the opportunity to pick up a card I've admired for a long time:

Hey Dale

Thanks for the kind words. Yep, 2 small spots of paper loss on the back are the main reason for the low grade. I've always been able to live with some back paper loss if the front presented well for the grade. Especially in this case where the prices increase so dramtically at seemingly every half point. I'm really happy with it for the price point.

Best,

Scott

Crazy! But congrats. Admittedly, I had the same thought 6 years ago when I nabbed my E104-2 Wagner. Flash forward to today, I’ve still got the Wags, but been able to acquire absolutely zero other Pirates. Been underbidder on a dozen or so, including the Clarke, but no wins. Look forward to seeing the complete grouping.

Default REA + a bit more

Finding a nice D304 Cobb has been a long road, but really happy with the card.
Received today along with 13 T206 Sovereigns (didn't set out to achieve that, but oh well!)
A couple of other odds and ends from May and late April here as well.

Absolutely incredible stuff this month.

With my last name being May, I feel like I'm letting the month of May down with only this one, singular pickup. Been after one for a while though. Display/conversation piece. I needed a cool, fitting background for the picture (thank you Man Cave). AMERICA!

Well, that certainly presents well, imo. You did good.

I'm not complaining as I am lucky to own one, but I wish my paper loss was on the back and not the front.

Awesome Ruth, Sam. Given how much Ruth cards have exploded in recent years, the Exhibits Champions card seem so undervalued for how rare it is.

Agree. The Champions Exhibit Ruth and the 1926-29 Exhibit Ruth (Pose) are far and away the best looking Ruth Exhibits. I have both of those, but I have a hard time wanting to go after the other Ruth exhibits.

Definitely not as big as some of the purchases posted but picked up a nice Cycle Adkins from everyone’s Buddy (thanks Scott) to finish my Baltimore T206 set.

Congrats to all on some really nice pick ups.

I know it's not baseball, but I hope people will not be upset by me posting these two period-era Amelia Earhart cards. Both are tough, and the 1936 Heinz Aviators card is her most valuable card. It is also a legendary non-sports rarity.

The 25-card set was issued in November 1936 (eight months before Earhart disappeared). By April 1937, five of the 25 cards in the set had been pulled from production and replaced with different aviators (there is much speculation as to why). As a result, the Earhart and Howard Hughes cards are by far the most valuable cards in the set.

I was shocked to see a Heinz Earhart card show up on eBay at a reasonable BIN. Only one of the nine Earhart Heinz cards that PSA has graded is below a "4." I am pleased that this card is so presentable for a "1," since a PSA 5 Howard Hughes card went for over $2,000 at REA last year.

Very, very cool cards. I'm all for a card with excellent historic value.

I will say you might want to get insurance for those cards, though. You never know - they might just disappear.

Thanks for the kind words, Kyle.

I just happened to be online at around 4 a.m one morning last week when I received an eBay e-mail alert that a Heinz Earhart card was newly listed. Even though the listing had a "best offer" option, I just hit the BIN because I was pretty sure someone else would if I didn't.

That is one of the cards I have had on my want list for a while now, but never really thought I would own. Both the Howard Hughes card and the Earhart card list for $750 in excellent condition, but that price seems to be a shot in the dark, considering how rare they are. The Hughes card may list for $750 in excellent condition, but one sold for over $2,000 at REA last year in PSA 5. And Earhart's Heinz card is even more elusive than Hughes'. From looking at the limited amount of data available, Earhart's card seems to sell for more than Hughes' when in identical grades.

The Mars Confections card rarely shows up for sale, but it is less than $100. Other than the Heinz card, her cards are very accessible price wise for how big an icon she remains.

Here's my REA winning. I got it couple weeks ago, but didn't get around to scanning it until today.

Sweet cards. I would say nice Cobb rookie, but I'm sure I'll get yelled at. But nice Cobb rookie!
