I guess if you can have Timmy from the Lassie show and Ruth Buzzi from Laugh In then I guess you can have the evil queen of reality tv. Will she be signing her rookie card?

I won't be there. However, it's bad enough when I took my son to the Hollywood Park show a few back and there's wall to wall, bikini-clad bimbos hawking their wares. I don't see the need for it and don't find it particularly appropriate for a "family" venue.

I guess since they let Mr. Mint in, they feel that they have to let everyone in.

I would guess that she doesn't have a "flat-item" fee and that everything is "deluxe"

Actually, from the cover shot her chest size looks to be less than average.

I bet you she looks nothing like that in person.

It's all air-brush. I bet Playboy could make Bea Arthur look yummy (or at least female).

Remember the good ole' days when the National brought to the general public the opportunity for a fee to meet legends like Koufax, Ali, Namath etc.

What a sorry lineup.

and tramps too...

I was one of the Hollywood Parrk objectors to the bimbo section. Not what I want my daughter or nephew to see. Are they doing lap dances too?

Ali's entourage was trying to rush him out after the autograph session, but he stopped for virtually every kid along the way.

Ali was a most gracious signer. He took time with the kids and it made for warm fuzzies in the heart...I think I almost shed a tear. regards

Although I don't know what either one is doing at a card show.
I remember in St. Louis 10 years ago at one booth they were selling "grab bags", I think they used to call the white elephants, where you didn't know what you were buying but it was guaranteed to be worth more than the sale price. I guess that would be one way to get rid of Valenzuela rookie cards and refractors.

The autographs used to be one of the reasons for going to the National back when autograph prices were reasonable. I think Koufax would charge 10-15X the price he charged in Chicago (one of my heroes) and I think Yaz was along the same lines. While I haven't paid for a signature in some 10+ years, this National just goes to show you that it's impossible to charge the prices these athletes command anymore and it's impossible for anyone to make money. So you know what you get? You get Laffit Pincay's first show ever!

Ali has always been fantastic. I got a chance to sit beside him for a signing session back in the early nineties and he should be a roll model for what athletes should be like at signings. When he was done on a couple occasions, he walked through the crowd posing for photos and delighting the crowd with magic tricks. He is a remarkable human being who knows his place in popular culture as a person who is admired for the right reason. Just last week Ali was at his nephew's baseball game and spent time with the kids and adults signing autographs. You think Snoop Dogg would do that at his kids football games?

Not that I give a crap about autographs, but Pincay is the Hank Aaron of horse racing. If you are going to have a jockey guest, you cannot do much better.

That said, what's next, a pro poker player?

It would be an honor to shake Texas Dolly's hand. Or Dan Harrington's. They have big time talent and class.

I'm gotten Pincay personally on a few occasions. A lot more pleasant than any experience I had with Aaron. Too bad most of the world doesn't even know who Pincay is or how difficult it is to be a jockey. Those guys are in fact athletes.

I've also met Brunson. He seemed bothered when I approached him to sign 'Super Systems', but he did.

Amazing in this time that poker players are now celebrities.

Pincay but from someone who's familiar with horse racing, like Adam said, he's a big thing.......(for Horse Racing). I like the inclusing of other 'sports' and would even consider the Poker Players (as they're on ESPN) but the other tangent bull$hip could be eliminated. While I'd like to look at the Survivor chick, I'm sure someone else out there would love her autograph.

Have met Ali 2-3 times in Louisville (his hometown). My dad went to get an Ali book signed and he signed the book about 4-5 times. Just kept turning pages to his favorite photos and kept signing. Finally my dad said he had a glove to be signed and he stopped with the book but signed both gloves in the set. Incredible person.

They are currently building a Muhammad Ali Museum on the riverfront in Louisville a stone's throw from the Louisville Slugger Museum. It's a $60 million project that is going to be completed in the October timeframe. Should be a really nice memorial to arguably one of the most known sports figures in history.

I was the first in line to get his autograph at a show, and I figured he'd be all business and hurry up, and he looked up at me with those baby-browns and said "Hello." I was so tongue-tied, all I could say was Hello and Thank you. I felt like a prize fool for not shooting the breeze with one of the greatest players ever.
