These posts are useful, as I base my shipping and 'handling' charges on how well the person dresses.

Don't worry John, I know you had to borrow a suit and tie once, so I won't charge you much. If Keith ever buys from me, I think I might owe him money.

One those rare days when someone remarks that I'm dressed unusually nicely, my response invariably will be, "Thank you. I'm doing my laundry and these are the only clean clothes I had left."

In otherwords, if anyone knew many consective days I've worn these jeans and that I mistakenly used that Christmas present tie to make coffee for a month until someone advised me that Pierre Cardin didn't make coffee filters, would not mistake me for a fashionable person.

Aside from Julie, this looks like the possible photo answers to the multiple choice question of who was the postal worker who climbed up on the roof of Dennys with a semi-automatic.

I was lucky enough to attend several of the mens ice hockey games at the 2002 olympics in Salt Lake.

Got my buddy to take the following picture (Yes, the guy with the white gloves in the commercials who guards the cup was there. Even traded some olympic pins with him!) :0)

Not a bad place to eat, but I used to eat at Sam Wo's at least once or twice a week when I lived in downtown SF. Gotta love a place where you practically walk thru the kitchen to get to the seating. The fact it stays open until 4am is also nice since I am a night owl.

The House of Nam King on Kearny rocks! I'll bet Jay used to go there as well. I drive 50 miles to go there once a week as I cannot resist the Oyster based Yam and shrimp dish! I saw Steve Martin in there once and another time I saw Dennis Hopper and Lew Pinella!

Sam Wo's was my main Chinese haunt, for German I went to Schroeder's next the Embarcadero Center. For Italian I went to Cafe Sport. The Garlic pasta would leave your breath reaking for days afterwards For Cajun, I went to the Ginger Bread House in the Post of Oakland. There was also a really cool Greek restaurant in the Port of Oakland, but I forget it's name, that had belly dancers and live music. Hot and Hunky is easily the best burger joint in SF and for a slice pizza, Blondie's just can't be beat. And just my luck, they have locations in downtown SF and Berkeley. The places I could always be found.

Just wish it didn't cost so much to live there, otherwise I would still be living there. And I've traveled the world and lived in most parts of the country and SF cannot be beat.

Jay

a steep flight of stairs to get to the seating (yes, through the kitchen)? I was there with my mother in 1985, and my mother looked at the menu and asked, "Do you have any Chinese vegitables?" and the waiter said, " Madam, ALL our vegitables (are) Chinese vegitables!"

Thanks for the tips for eating in San Francisco. I don't live there, either. I used to live down the penninsula (Menlo Park) but moved to Spokane, WA in 1979. I only get to go out when I travel there, which is usually about once a year.

PS - I really like the garlic calamari

I've only been a couple of times but the wife and I enjoy eating at Scomas (sp?) which is a seafood restaurant down by Fishermans Wharf...

I don't know what a locals view of the place is but we had some excellent meals there. Just be prepared to wait in line for a bit (but its well worth it!)

Julie, yes, that is the place. And they are famous for their rude waiters and making you eat with chopsticks. They only server tea, so they let you in bring in outside drink.

Every once in awhile, we would a get a pony keg of beer and take over the top floor of the place party all night there. hanging off the balcony and offerieng free beer was always a great way to pick up women, hehe

Scoma's is good, but overhyped. I'm not a big fan of Fisherman's Warf other than to buy fresh crab, but The Grotto is really good and makes a rockin' Crab Del Monaco.

I almost forgot. There is another Italian resturant right next to Cafe Sport, can't remember the name (Leaning Tower or something like that) that has a really cool collection of basbeall memorabilia. They all make a really good osso bucco.

I am surprised Julie is not on this topic. She lives here as well! The Grotto is great but has old pee pee from kids carpet and is too old in many ways.

Yank Sing (Mission and Spear, Stevenson) and Ton Kiang (Geary, between 22nd and 23rd). Dim (or deem) sum are those little pillows stuffed with crab, shrimp, pork, chicken etc.) plus great green vergitables, plus
tiny portions of roast duck, plus spring rolls and potstickers. Plus a great custard tart called don tah--made on premesis. Everything is very SMALL, so you can limit your spending to what you want to spend.

Yank Sing is more westernized--they serve coffee, and two great ice cream deserts (pistacho and mango) on a little pie crust, in addition to the don tah.

Please wipe away my drool...MORE PICTURES!

Tommy's Joint is very cool. If you crave buffalo meat, this is the place to go. They also have a very nice beer selection. When I threw raves in SF, we used to rent out the Hungarian Hall which is about 1/2 a block from there. We used to get a deal on the buffalo stew that was left at the end of the night and we would all be grubbing on that in the backroom of the rave. There is also a very good Mongolian BBQ place on Polk a few blocks form there. It's on the second floor.

I can't forget this place. Easily the coolest ice cream place in the Bay Area. The have all kinds of vintage toys, mostly 50s and 60s Japanese tin toys and robots along with other interesting pieces. Seating is hard to find though since the place is always crowed.

Mike Williams and jay-Tommy's palce is cool. Funny,it is in the seediest part of San Francisco at night. I am surprised to see the windows intact in the morning. The Thai resturant on Post rocks as well as does the Persian place.
