Default R319 Goudey Gum (1933)

Recently I picked up a couple proof type cards and lo and behold I have the patent cards to go with it. We rarely speak of 1933 Goudeys. What's up with them, anything? Show 'em if ya' got 'em!!

Default Final Proofs?

Somewhere along the line I ended up with these '34 Goudeys with a similar back stamp. The seller said that he thought they were are part of a proof set but had none of the other pieces. I don't have a clue.

Default hand cut

Hey Jeff
The patent card I have is handcut. Yours look to be factory cut. Not sure what that means but it might mean something?

It most likely means that someone stamped 1934 on back of them.
Or then again it could have been "more recently effected."

I am going to take a stab at it and say that someone did them back in the day to your cards, but they aren't patent cards. The patent cards I have seen have the number on the back of them as the one I showed does. The font does look like same though...

Default Leon

those look pretty cool next to each other. I don't own a single Goudey, but I have always really liked the Hack Wilson card. I've got to get one of those one of these days.

First, the Bottomley cards are great. But that isn't a patent card. It's a copyright card. Patents, trademarks, and copyrights are distinctly different things. The visual aspects and information on that particular card were being registered with the Library of Congress' copyright office.
