The 1933 Goudey set. One of the all time classics with 4 Ruth cards and 2 Gehrigs.

Well, considering you could sell the 4 Ruths, 2 Gehrigs and a few more cards to buy the CJ Jackson....and have the rest of the set left, I suppose the Goudeys. As for a choice not impeded by financial thoughts, I'd say the Goudey set.

Mile High Card Company has both of these items available in their current internet auction. The 1914 CJ Jackson is SGC 60 EX and is currently bid up to $12,636. The 1933 Goudey near set is all graded PSA 4 VG/EX, missing only the #106 Lajoie and 2 Babe Ruths (#53 and #144), and is currently at $10,718.

I would rather have the Goudey set.

Goudey. Although I love the Jackson card, I collect '33 Goudeys though in higher grades.

But of course, the answer is, as always:
whichever one you're giving away!

We can take this over to the BST if you need to any particulars, like my address...

tuff one...my first reaction was the Jackson...BUT, upon further review, i think a near Goudey set (graded) would be more fun to look at...

I'd trade my Goudey set for a decent '15 Jackson, let alone a '14 one.

Griffin, Guys

I don't know why there's this fascination with Shoeless Joe. Isn't he really in the same type of situation as Mark McGwire. Joe was banished for breaking baseball's cardinal rule. Why aren't his cards being punished the same way that Mark McGwire's cards.

Peter

Peter-
One huge reason is that there are a million Mark McGwire cards and less than 1,000 Jackson cards. McGwire also knew exactly what he was doing. Jackson, not so much. Then there was the fact that Jackson hit over .360 in his career and played his ass off even in the game that he allegedly fixed. McGwire hit .260 in his career and shot steroids in the locker room. Jackson may have made one mistake in his career (which the stats dispute), McGwire made bad choices daily. No comparison!

peter-

ouch, peter...get ready for the on-slaught...

joe jackson apperantely took money for being part of throwing the WS...BUT, (it apperas) he never did anything thing to try & loose on purpose. he hit .375, only HR in the series, no errors...he was an amazing talent, who got caught up in something he didn't fully understand...

McGwire on the other hand...(who i loved, and followed his whole career)...apperantely took performance enhancing drugs...so who is to say that his homeruns were not assisted with the help of drugs...

i hear you, but Joe definetly is the biggest void in the Hall...there are also arguements for Hodges & Rose, but Shoeless is a mythical figure...

Peter- No fascination, I need him to finish the set. I wish they'd just elect him to the hall and his cards would go down to Tris Speaker levels, cost wise. Now it's higher than Cobb, Matty, or Wagner, which seems unjustified to me.

I'm not really into Goudeys, so i'd rather have the CJ Jackson. I'd also take the e90 Jackson over the CJ Jackson any day

Griffin,

You hit the nail on the head. Shoeless Joe cards are worth more now because people are screaming about the injustice of him being barred from the Hall. If he actually, got in the price of his cards would drop.

Peter
