Default Auction Sites For Early Baseball Bats

I would like to start collecting baseball bats from around the late 1800's to the early 1920's. Don't know a thing about them or the best place to get them. All I know about is Ebay and I saw Mears on the net. Are these good sources? any others?

Thanks for your advice.

I can only help with the Mains bats and maybe a little with some other Maine produced bats.

Thank you, Rawn. I just went on Google and was able to find a few Mains Dolley bats that had been auctioned on Ebay and a few other sites in the past couple of years. They seem pretty rare and interesting.

MEARS is a very good source. Knowledgeable. I've bought from them a few times, including bats, and had no trouble with shipping, product etc.

I always have bats available. If you want to let me know what you are looking for I can let you know what I have. Are you looking for pro model bats, ball knobs, mushrooms, generic etc.

I collect hand made 19th century bats and some store model bats, pre1920. I've found all mine on Ebay over the past 15 years (around 130 bats).

Thanks, John. I'll be checking Ebay. Sounds like we are interested in the same thing, except you're around 129 bats ahead of me.

Jonathan:

Every time I check your B/S/T link, I only see the same D&M Chest Protector. Are there other items for sale/trade that I am somehow missing on your website?

About half of my bats are 19th century and almost all are hand made. My favorites are a bunting bat from the early 1880's, a monster oak bat from the 1870's that weighs around 4 lbs. and another monster 38" bat that weighs a bit over 4 lbs.

Yea...thanks for that feedback about the B/S/T link on my site...we really don't use it too much at all anymore. Although most of the collection consists of "keeper" items, we've found that in the last year or so that we can turn a "keeper" into a trade item for, well, "more of a keeper".

Although the vast majority collection is not for sale per say, we are always interested in listening to offers to buy or trade. So, forget the B/S/T link and reach out to us if there is something that you feel fits your needs...we can always talk and see if we can work something out.

p.s. That D&M chest protector is still available
