Default Leland's lot #1098

Amazing cabinet photo but very familiar evidence of being stolen from the Baseball HOF as the markings on back show.

#1098

Buyer beware.

For those of us who don't know, like myself, could you give a little more detail about the 'evidence' and where it has appeared before?

I'm just curious and have no clue about the backstory here.

If an item was "misappropriated" from the BB HOF, then that would make the BB HOF the owner of the item and if they have the proof/provenance it is theirs, then they could demand to have the item returned. Is that correct?

If the BB HOF can prove an item was removed from their archives without permission and found the item for auction, then an assumption is that the AH would be responsible for making all parties whole (the assumption being the AH had no idea/knowledge the item for auction was not actually the consignors to sell).

Just curious, if the BB HOF requested that the AH return the item to them, then is the AH obligated to do so or would they return it to the consignor?

You've sold me, Jeff. Can you sell Leland's as well? Maybe the HOF can recover this fine piece.

I know a family member of Babe Ruth and was informed a lot of memorabilia on the market was taken over the years from the archives of Cooperstown, to which Ruth left a substantial amount of his personal effects etc. Hope this not to be the case, but how does one manage and actively account for countless stored away items?

Doesn't do my disposition any good to see that this shit is still going on. Had my go-round with the white-out crew. Left me with utter disdain for Bill Mastro and Doug Allen, general disgust for Peter Nash and not much respect for the clueless guardians at the Hall of Fame. Shameful that the perp who looted the HOF has not been apprehended; probably still out there basking in the scum of the hobby. Am always gonna miss my Falk Matty cabinet.

None of those mentioned were the party(ies) that removed the many items from the HOF...

I am aware of that and did not infer that they were. Each had a part in the unfortunate saga in which I took it up the okole, and each acquitted themselves less well than the occasion warranted. I've heard rumors as to who the thief/thieves were. I believe their identities are known to some but no one has rolled on them and no one has been held accountable as best I know. Fuck 'em. It's an old wound and I've got new troubles to reckon with. That's all I'm going to say.
