Jeff:

Nice pick-up on the Sol White card, that's a tough one to find even though it is a modern piece.

Default McCarver

Nice McCarver David. I may have mentioned this but my favorite story about him, one he told, was him going out as a new Cardinals catcher to "settle" Gibson down after he walked a guy, and Gibson telling him, "Get back behind the plate. The only thing you know about pitching is that you can't hit it" The only thing better would have been if it was Uecker

Default 1948 Magic Photos

David---I have the complete baseball subset of the Topps Magic Photos ( 19), plus I added the William Bendix as Babe Ruth Movie Star card. I also have a wrapper, instruction card and piece of developing paper from that issue. While many consider the 5 1951 sets or even the 1952 set to be the first Topps set, the 48 "set" starts my run

Very nice. '48 starts my run as well. I've kinda fallen away from my Topps sets lately, but the '48's have still kept my attention.. I've been slowly working on the '48 Wrestling and Boxing sets, and have picked a handful of the baseball(3 of the 4 generic Indians ones for now) and football ones when the price is right. Plus the Jesse Owens. I really like these, and will probably try to finish these 4 sub-sets at one point...

Very nice.

Dumb question but how difficult is it for you to not want to open the packs?

Hey guys........nooby here. I just discovered Net54 yesterday, and look forward to taking part in these forums.

In addition to the excitement of my Net54 account being approved, I also today received in the mail the last card I needed for my 1961 Topps set - #531 Jim Coates. Its taken me about 12 years to complete this set, so I'm a pretty happy guy!

As you can see from the scan, condition isn't all that big a consideration for me. If the eye appeal is decent, and it fills an empty spot in the binder, it'll do for me!

Default It's been awhile. . .

Picked up these two beautiful cards recently. I have to only get 22 more cards and then the 1956 Topps Series 2 will be complete. Another small milestone.

# 47 Pitching Leaders... with or without a line after 19 on Burdette
CL 2... with red or yellow checklist on front and white or black circle on back
CL 3 ...player on front with # 4 visible or not
# 203.. Bressoud with or without blue streak near hat
# 208.. Osborne with a black line between name and team either touching
or not touching the box borders
# 256...Hoeft with or without broken border in upper fron left
# 271 Landis...bat is within or extends beyond top border
CL 4...copyright starts at 336 or 339 on back
CL 5... grass shows at umps feet or does not
CL 6...440 is Louis or Luis

You seem like a decent guy Scott, so I am not going to hold the Tigers and 1968 against you...much
