It's only January, but by the end of the year I'm sure this will still be very high on my list of favorite pickups of the year.

Marty, beautiful cards. Same to that great T227. You don't see that one looking so nice too often.

Let's start a pool on whether PSA would correct the flip if you sent it in to see if you could get a 6.5. My money's on no correction, regardless if it get's a 6.5 or not.

Picked up a blue ink S74 Meyers to go with the maroon ink and brown ink variations. Here's all three:

Inching ever closer on my quest for a complete Crofts Cocoa set...

The Crofts Candy Wagner was just another that I couldn't pass up. Think it might be worthy of a 3.5?

Nice Wagners , Scott
Your Post displays how much nicer cards look in SGC holders.

The Condom Floaters like your Wagner and My Walsh are pathetic IMO. I think PSA should spend a little of their half grade income on coming up with some black inserts for their slabs.

Tommy Leach - Pittsburgh

Nap Rucker - Brooklyn

For some reason, it seems as though PSA put them in the holder backwards.

Yes, Ken W. That is the Southworth RC. Now if I can only pick up a Barney Dreyfuss, I would be in good shape.

Not a pickup per se but didn't want to start a new thread. I finished a D304 player set last year and finally got around to posting images at the SGC set registry thanks to my trusty new scanner, an Xmas present from my trusty new wife. In case anyone is interested: http://tinyurl.com/28pquo

Thank you, Jeff. And congrats to all you New York Football Giants fans. I'm a Giants guy from the Charlie Conerly, Andy Robustelli days. Hope you go all the way!

David

Your new wife?????

Nice photo of Hawaii--we were snowshoing on Seymour today, while downtown Vancouver was baked in sunshine

And while this was December pickup and posted in another thread, I'll re-post in the new acqusitions, just so I'm not OT completely

Ho, Max. I just edited my post to move it back on-topic a bit. Looks like I started an o/t slide. My apologies to one and all.

Jeannette and I were married in 2003 which makes her a relatively "new" wife. It's just been one long honeymoon as I am sure she will attest. ("Yea, right, David." from the next room).

What is that strange white matter in your photograph, by the way?

David, bring that photo back! Much better than the other pics on this thread! As for the Giants, my misery with them started in 72 during the Ron Johnson/Norm Snead era. My first game was the thrashing of the Eagles 62-10 -- and I actually thought the Giants were a great team! Little did I know...for about a decade, at least.

Just picked up this extremely tough to find Ruth.

Its listed in the SCD page 539, but since it is so rare and newly listed they havent given values yet.
I know Leon has one of the Ruths and a couple other board members have examples of this set, and Adam has a couple of the Boxers from this set too.

Anyone know of any others to add to this checklist???
Bob Meusel
Babe Ruth
Tris Speaker
Firpo (boxer)
Gans (boxer)
Gibbons (boxer)
Jack Johnson (boxer)
Ketchel (boxer)
Wolgast (boxer)

Hello Everyone,

I'm excited to post my 100th addition to my T206 collection. I posted that I wanted something special on the BST and this is what I ended up with:

Thanks Rob!

Rob was also very generous and threw in this sharp Phelps to keep me moving up the mountain.

I also picked up a few Highlanders off the BST from David. I really like this Elberfeld portrait.

I hope everyone has a great year collecting!

Best wishes,

Joe

With all the talk about declining card prices, have you noticed the T210s keep going up and up, even the Series 1 and 2s!

Most back from SGC, Wagner just arrived the other day and got it scanned in. I thought some of the SGC grades were pretty tough...would have hoped the Vaughn was a 20 and would have loved to have seen the Bridwell grade..but oh well.
