Default New to The Board

Hey guys I just wanted to say hello.

I've been out of collecting since the late 90s recently while sifting through a lot of that old stuff got reinvigorated. I haven't collected since I was in my teens, now in my 30s I'm trying to grow my pre-war collection again.

I've decided to focus on T-206 and I'll pick up a Goudey and some 19th Century stuff if I see a good deal on a nice piece.

After reading here and there I think I'm going to start on the 150 onlys and then work my way into the 150/350s.

Curious what a 'normal' price is for basic common T-206s these days? Like in the PSA 2-3 range. I see a lot of fluctuation on eBay on the non-scarce cards and I can't tell which of the online T-206 price lists are current.

Any advice on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated as the obsession has taken hold once again. Excited to be back.

Cody

Hey Cody
I suggest doing an advanced search on ebay and looking at completed sales of what you are looking at. T206 is a hot topic and the prices are all over the board. Different backs on them bring different prices too. The rare backs are really hot. Also, be sure to keep an eye on our BST T206 section and you will see them sold over there.. Welcome aboard....

Welcome to the five-four Cody! I think there are quite a few of us 30somethings here who grew up daydreaming about rookie cards of Sandberg, Canseco, Ripken, Griffey, etc., fell out of love in the 90s (the strike did it for me), and jumped back in after getting settled in their careers.

Search the archive, buy some T206s, and have a good time.

Welcome to the forum, Cody!

If you're looking for price history, I always use Card Target .com. Select price history in the upper left corner, then the T206 set. A list with all the cards will come up in alphabetical order with the last sale price by grade. Click on the player name to bring up a list of current auctions for that card. What you want on this page is the price history on the right side. From this new page, you can filter the results down by TPG (Beckett, PSA, SG) and grade. That will show you all the recent sales.

The most important thing is to have fun. If you have questions, use the search function on the forum, or Google (I go there, put in "Net54baseball" and whatever my question is, or a few key words. Sometimes that works better than the forum search function if you're looking to query long periods of time.

If you can't find an answer, ask away. Start a new topic, or message somebody for help. I'm always willing to help when I can. Feel free to pm me any time you like.

Good luck with your collection!

Bill

Welcome. Without much effort you can purchase common player T206s for $15-$25 easily. I'm in the exact same boat as you. Grew up in the 80s-90s, out of cards for a while, came back and went right for the T206s. Any questions, feel free to ask. Good luck!

Brendan
