Bobby,

Is that a full box like they use to come or cut out?

I do not own it but believe it is one of the cards that was restored. To my knowledge all of the cards where found in a garage with fire damage.

I believe that most were found in a burnt garage or barn, but not all of them. The Brown was one of the burnt ones and was restored. It is not the whole box.

Most of the known players are one of a kind. There may be a few cases in which duplicates are known, but I'm not sure. There are very, very few complete boxes. Maybe 1, 2, or 3.

I've had this one about 10 years. Seldom offered for sale. As has been noted, there are a few complete boxes. This one is one of the ones from the barn fire.

There are approx. 7 full boxes known (with the most recent addition being the Cobb (fielding) that sold in REA in 2006).

I sold most of mine years ago to a private collector in NY. He still has them all (including the Wagner box). Think he'd let me get those back? Not. The ones I didn't sell to this collector I sold to a collector/dealer who posts on this board from time to time. I know he sold all the ones I sold him except for the Walter (individual card).

I currently don't own any

that I sold my type. It was Cole I believe and was from the barn find. I bought it from a Tom Slater's Political Gallery auction. I later sold it on eBay. It had not been restored. There was an aricle written by Lew I believe in his magazine venture that was made about the restoration of a group of cards from the find.

at the 2004 National. It was a non-Hofer for $800 cut into a silhouette with the Darby logo still intact. Needless to say, I wish I'd pulled the trigger on that "piece" of history.
