Default You guys have created a Monster...

If you saw my intro post the other day, you know that I've been fallen in love with vintage as of late, especially pre-war, after being a modern-era collector. I decided to go after T206 Portraits (specifically no-hat portraits). In my opinion, they are some of the most beautiful cards ever produced, and the history behind the T206 set made my choice a no-brainer.

Well, today I received my first 2 cards on the long journey, and I couldn't be happier with my choice. Even in low grade, just stunning little pieces of history. Big thanks to Thomdawg for the Dahlen. The Dooin was purchased from ebay.

If it's alright with everybody, I'll be using this thread to update my progress. It won't be the quickest set build ever, but I'm sure it will be fun. Thanks again to all of y'all for the wealth of info you have provided to this site on this set and many, many others.

Nick

Honestly the green Cobb is my favorite card in the whole set. Gonna have to wait a good while for the ol' wallet to expand before I even think about picking up one of those beauties hahah. One day though, one day.

Plank is gettable......Mr PWCC on the EBay
Right now. I'd rather have a PSA 1 Cobb though.
A bit more realistic

Welcome Nick. Nice cards. Good luck with the chase. I was there once right out of the gates a couple years ago too but the set beat me down. I started looking at what it was costing me and the thrill of getting the cards in the mail subsided. I think you have the right idea though to break it down into pieces... i went all in buying whatever and got burnt-out. My suggestion would be to stay the course with your portraits and take it from there. Good luck and posting your cards is a good move too... i think the feedback is helpful.

Thanks for all of the kind words, gents! Added 2 more today, thanks to Mike Peich. Both Sovereign 350 backs. (Apologies for the wonky scans)

This beauty just came in the mail today. I think it looks really good for the grade, the only thing holding it back is that mark by the side of his head. My first EPDG back. Thanks for listening to me ramble and enjoy the scans!

Just got the Hal Chase Pink in the mail from Glenn. It seems like everytime I get a new card, it becomes my new favorite. Thanks for looking.

Great job Nick and good luck on your venture. Your Rhoades and Chase are exactly the kind of cards I am collecting as well.

Great looking Chase card.
And it (my new fave card thing) doesn't get much easier either. Our cards are like little works of art. They are fantastic to just gaze at sometimes (and smell too )......Remember it's a marathon and not a sprint and most of all have fun on the journey.
