Added 3 more cards over the last week.

The first two are SGC 30's. The Geyer has a small paper loss on the back. Not sure why the Davidson has a low grade.

Additionally, I picked up an awesome example of the Big Train. Very stoked to get this. Has a small paper loss on the 2nd E of Sweet. I am very OK with this.

This puts me at 59.

Mark

Mark, I hate to tell other guys how nice their Johnson's are but that sir is a nice looking Johnson!

Also your set is going to be one nice looking set when you're done.

Thanks John......I always wanted to have a nice Johnson. I will have to ask my wife what she thinks of it.

I have really refrained from buying "big lots" where the condition is not within my guidelines. I know it will take me longer but I am OK with picking up one card at a time based on the condition I want. That is the thrill of the chase, eh?

Mark,
I enjoyed seeing the quality cards that you have obtained so far towards your set. What is nicest to see though is your passion and enjoyment towards what you are collecting. Keep it up.
Best wishes,
Tim Kindler

Default Update with pick-up's from the National

Spent Thursday and Friday at the National. Had a really good time. Looked through a ton of T-206's and settled on 9. Was hoping to find a Cobb (bat off shoulder) but couldn't find one that I was happy with.

First two are nice HOF's

Can't go wrong with Chase and McIntyre

Several commons

And very excited to pick up my first SL

This puts me up to 71. My goal was to finish in 10 years (50/year). I am 1.5 years into it and a tad behind schedule. It may take me a little longer due to the quality parameters I am looking for. I am OK with this........makes the journey that much better.

From one Cincy fan to another, you have great taste in T206 cards. I'm the same way. They need to be centered, crease free, and in the range of Good to Excellent. Nice National pickups!

Been a few months since I have posted anything but here is the latest additions. This puts me at 94 in about 23 months (goal is 50/year). Also picked up my first EPDG. Here are the SGC cards.

Mark, the set is coming along nicely!

I think we are both on similar paths to punishing the Monster...we collect the same grades and also collect around the same amount per year. Great minds, eh?

Good luck this year with the set

Picked up three more cards in the last couple of weeks. The Lattimore came from Ebay and the Miller and Freeman came from Andrew Hahn. The Freeman is my first Cycle back. This puts me now at 97.

Ray, the McClean was one of the T206's I bought when I was a kid back in the 80's and had graded. I love that card as well.

Great Start so far! I wish I can invest more into the monster, but with 2 monsters in college and 1 at home, it's kinda hard to do so. I will pick up the pace once my 2 college kids have left the nest officially (1 graduates in 2 weeks)

Thanks guys. Trying to find the condition I want at what I consider a fair price proves to be challenging at times.....LOL. It's funny, there are times where I will spend more than the VCP or Ebay avg because of how it presents. I never get caught up in the grade even though I try and collect in a 3/4 range.

Been a while since I have updated this thread. Didn't really buy anything for several months but have picked up a bunch over the last few weeks.

Got the following off of Net54 the last two weeks.

My first Hindu.
