1916 New York Giants Player Trophy....
...to pitcher Fred Anderson, for helping set a team record at the time of 17 straight wins, of which Anderson was credited with 4, while some joker named Mathewson only got 1 of the 17. Of course that was Christy's final season and his arm was dead, but I'm sure he got one of these trophies as well, pretty cool..
So I could find only one other of these that went in Leland's back in 2007: http://www.lelands.com/auction/Aucti...o-George-Kelly As, you can see mine is in need of a face lift to say the least, so I'm in need of opinions. Thanks to fellow Net54er Mike for letting me know these can be silver re-plated. Never knew that of trophies. So after calling around and getting quotes I can do a total silver replating & restoration for about $350-$400 (not sure I want to spend that much), or I could get a general cleaning and the base refinished for $130, but it won't have that new shine and will look more pewter/gray. Any thoughts? Last edited by Shoeless Moe; 12-23-2013 at 02:21 PM. |
