Default Let's See some 19th Century Player Cabinets and Photos

There are always threads showing cards starting in 1900, but not much prior to that. After searching for a Baldwin Chicago card or cabinet on eBay I came across an 1890 Studio Cabinet. A little out of my price range, but it has caught my attention to these pieces.

I know there are some great collections out there with these types of photos. Let's see a few.

I'll start with my N173 of Al Buckenberger.

PS. If the owner of the Baldwin is a Net54 member I'd like to talk.

This is just a generic cabinet, but it's oversized.
Plus I've always liked the image.

Default Andrus

Picked up the CDV and a Cabinet of him from another collector a while back. Sold the Cabinet last year though.

Derek, those are awesome. How do you manage to find these? Are they typically from auctions with player identified or just luck searching through photos?

Someone else lucked out with the identification of those players when they found them on eBay, etc....I just over-payed for them at auction when the identification was made quite apparent to all.

Here's another one:

Default 1892 Portland

From the 1892 Portland, Maine, team..Bill Annis and Jim Rogers. Annis played for the 1884 Boston Beaneaters, managed by John Morrill, alongside Jack Burdock and Ezra Sutton.
Rogers played for and managed the Louisville Colonels in 1897 and during a poor season was relieved of his managerial duties by Fred Clarke.

Great photo on that one. Congrats.

Here are some kids playing baseball....and some not paying attention. I am guessing 1880s on it. It is about 8 1/2 x 5 1/5 and has a purple stamp on back that says-

Princeton 1866 or 1867. Not a very good scan. Maybe Leon can make it larger.

Here's one with a better scan- circa 1868 Agallians of Wesleyan University in Middletown Ct. Great pose. This image depicts the 3 bases and the pitcher's plate and home plate. I know of only one other photograph from this early period to show these.
