Default Unknown Brand Circa 1910

Hello Folks, my first time Posting. I recently acquired this unopened Pack of 8 cigarettes. Unfortunately the Tax Stamp is covering the Brand Name. Based on the Stamp it is circa 1910. With 1910 being the time period when many of these cigarette packs contained baseball cards, I was hoping someone could identify the brand, and, if this is a brand that could contain a baseball card.

Thank You....Clutch

Not a tobacco pack expert, but with the 'r' visible at the end along with the graphic depicted, I would guess 'Anchor'.

I was thinking possibly the same thing, but, I do not believe that first letter is an A....maybe a B or P.

I would open it, and smoke one of the 100 year cigarettes. You should get a real good buzz.

This probably won't help much, but I searched for the phrase "finest blended cigarettes made from carefully selected tobacco" and the only result was a 1922 trademark for a Canadian cigarette brand called "Bellbuoy." It's obviously about 10 years later and Canadian, but given the identical language and the nautical theme, I thought it might be a clue.

Link to Canadian trademark

I would be shocked if it wasn't Anchor. Given the font size of the "r", there's really only room for 4-5 more letters.

Default seen many hundreds of packs but

don't recall this one. Also 8 is an unusual configuration. In any event I'm going with the all too obvious Anchor........

Oh yeah - highly doubtful there is any kind of card inside. Still neat.

If I get time I'll take a peek at a link or two I have relative to pack sites

no guarantees whether written or implied

Thank You. The 8 is an odd size.

Default I searched thru a brand matrix

and only found the Wills reference...... No factory number? No use label on the opposite side of the "8"? If not - not US manufacture - just offered for US sale.

Default in looking at the pack again

the way the side is configured - it must be an over-the-pond issue and won't have the two elements previously referenced.

To definitively answer the other half of your question on whether there is a card inside, you can message Jon Canfield. He would be the best person to ask regarding tax stamps, packs & the possibility of having a card inside.

His contact info is under the Vintage Links/Collector Sites tab above.
