I have a strong feeling the wrapper is in the same category....fake...it's too brown. I have one of them, and have seen about 10 others, they should be a lighter cream color.

A friend of mine bought all six cards and the wrapper a couple of years ago. All of the fakes I have seen have the same tale-tell markings on the back. It looks as though they were thrown in the oven and baked to give them that brownish tint they have.
On a side note and not to highjack this thread, would anyone know what a real one would be worth? I am looking at one in an old SCD holder(red) graded 6. It is the real deal and would like to make an offer on it. Does Psa or Sgc grade these?

Ballpark on one, in 6 holder, is $600-$1000 depending on who wants it when it's at auction......I have a few nice ones in my collection, SGC graded, and sold several others in SGC holders...I don't know about the other grading services as well though I have seen some in GAI and PSA holders, some time ago...hope this helps. One other thing, every once in a while you can get a great deal on these...as some think almost all are fakes ie...the Fro-Joys.....(same thing on those except I think only Beckett will grade Fro-Joys currently, and I trust them to spot fakes)

Leon,

Thanks for the info. I have compared this card to ones in your personal collection and I have doubts about it. Although it resides in an old SCD holder ( which I have always thought be have been a competent grading service) it appears to be different than yours.
The biggest difference I see is the lack of a black border around the card. I can't tell if it has been cropped as I don't have a real card number 2 to compare it to. Any thoughts?

If the scan you showed is the one from that auction I posted then my percentage of it being fake just went from 99% to 100%.....it's not even a good fake....best regards

edited to say it looks like the recent scan is from a different situation....it's definitely fake..

Leon,

This is in a SCD 6 holder. A local longtime collector bought it last year off of Ebay I believe. We were thinking of doing a trade and I brought the card home over the weekend to look at it a little more closely. The SCD holder had been tampered with... definitely opened at some point. In person, it looks a lot better than the other fakes that I have seen, but I was still a little unsure about it. Thanks for your assessment. I believe I'll let this one slide.

An authentic King of swats card should have a small s for swats, & the K on his uniform should be more visable. Also, there should be a period after swats.

It's still a fake....fakes never feel right by touch and generally aren't as focused as real cards. This one up now has that telltale grainy look to it...The ones below are real, on the left, and fake on the right....

I remember that Fro Joy portait. I thought I was going to get it real cheap, due to most everybody thinking they're all fake. Leon outbid me by a buck. (I think that's the same one)
