Default 1923 Massillon / Canton related football image

Just recently picked this image up. It comes from what is often considered the cradle of professional football, the NE area of Ohio (Akron, Canton and Massillon). It's the 1923 Massillon/Washington High football champs. Washington High changed their name durning 1923 to honor their Massillon pro team which folded that season and became the Massillon Tigers. Several important early pro and college players came from this school. Paul Brown was the quarterback the year after this photo and later coached the team. I'm sure some of these guys went on to become college stars.

The image is a large 16" x 21" format and was photographed by R.S. Blake of Canton, Ohio. The trophy depicted is the "The University Club of Canton Trophy" which was awarded for their football championship. I've added a photo (not mine) that shows the Massillon backfield for this team. I've also added a pic of their roster.

I know we have a few vintage football experts on here. If you happen to have any input on some of these players, I'd love to hear about them.

Thanks for looking.

A little before my time , but I'm from Ohio and Massillon has been a perennial power....forever (or at least until I left in 1977).
