Default Ad Blockers highly recommended

Net54baseball.com shows up consistently with 80 minimum to 120 ads per page. Seriously, Leon! With so many advertisers / industry participants felons, many w/ less then honorable intentions, does anyone w/ current high level programming expertise review the submitted code for nefarious advertiser activities? Are Net54baseball.com members being exposed and/or sold out? I have ABP (AdBlockPlus) on my browser and Net54baseball.com has the distinction of being several x more intrusive for ads / info gathering then ANY other site I've EVER visited.

Odd, all I get on the board is five small ads, four of them static and the largest banner rotating graphics but for a single advertiser.

The main Oldcardboard page only has one ad.

I'd suggest scanning for some other adware you got somewhere else.

Now if you'd said this about answers.com or one of the other clickbait "article" places I'd agree entirely. Those often serve up a gigabyte plus of junk quickly enough that the browser stops before I can finish the article. - Yeah, not sure why I even bother looking at them anymore.

I get a handful of advertisements at the very top of the board, and that is it. Right now there are a total of maybe four? In exchange, I get a free board with a ton of useful discussions. Seems like a pretty fair exchange.

You've got issues with your computer with adware/spyware I'd say. I get a grand total of 1 ad blocked on this page.

Five ads here, all relative to my interests...therefore the are not so much ads as content.

The ads here are minimally intrusive and rarely affect performance. Your computer is infected with malware.

Ads, tracking cookies, etc is what he's talking about. I use Adguard. As you can see, many websites are now tracking you.

Jeez. Every time I click on CNN or Marketwatch I assume I'm being tracked by 1000s of sites. If this kind of crap keeps me up at night I'd be trully insane.

I'm sure there is also a setting on Firefox so you can block all of this in a matter of seconds.

I'm not familiar with any of those blockers.

The cumulative numbers may be time related. The cycling ad may have to request "new" graphics for each change, so over a period of time the number could get pretty high.

Some ads also keep trying if they're blocked, which would also increase the count.

Although, all the ones I have currently are static, and are just .GIFs so there shouldn't be much going on there.

I had a glitch a while back, maybe two years or more where I was getting the weird hover over ads where random words appear as links. Turned out to be some adware that had downloaded from a site that had a bunch of those, (And was probably something like a legit news site if I remember it right) Finding and removing it fixed the problem.

Nah, just ran diagnostic checks on an almost new MAC, so you're most likely wrong on both accounts. No other sites light up like a Christmas tree and hope you know what you're doing!

Hmmm, so you are insinuating that net54 is just as risky to look at as those free porn sites (not that I would know anything about them )?

I think he is insinuating that, after 13 yrs of running this place, I don't know what I am doing AND everyone else is wrong. Sure thing.....

Meh, how this could be such a concerning subject is a mystery to me. I have much more worrisome items to be in the forefront.

This is much like people throwing an inane fit over a sales call or specifically calling companies to voice complaints about spam emails or junk mail in their mailbox. My time is far more valuable than sitting on hold for 30 minutes to stop an email from a department store.

It takes 100 times the effort to freak out than to ignore, and I really don't believe other than assisting in marketing analytics that an internet tracker is a conspiracy. I don't care if they track away and I will just continue to ignore the directed advertising that appears on sites I visit because of it. That's the extent of the tracking headaches the internet causes me.

Or just maybe the black helicopters will drop in my backyard and put me under the spotlight to ask about my Amazon purchases...

I have no issues with ads on this site. ADP blocked 2 ads on Net 54. You've got issues with malware on your system; perhaps the software you're using to scan your system sucks?

None of us are having the same issues you are having. But, yeah, it's Net 54.
