Up to 60...not bad, considering that I started the year at 10.

This thread is exactly 2 years old. It would be fun to go back and see exactly where everybody was at this time 2 years ago...

Everyone did not post on day 1 of course. The Monster number archives are as ragged as an A & G advertising poster before restoration.

Initially there were some lists from the early months that were posted. I would suggest Post #79 for the first list of the Top 40, posted on Feb 20, 2012. You needed 46 cards to be in the Top 40 then. Now you need 508 to be in the Top 40. Somebody must still be printing these puppies.

I currently update a master list on my laptop, and then copy & paste to post #1 as an edit. I'm really glad we switched over to posting the whole list in Post #1. It's easier for me and more accessible for you, plus I don't have to add a post for the purpose of updating the list.

Two years ago I held three T206 a Bastian, Crandall and Rhoads ( or was it Rhodes or Rhoades) and still have them. Hit 518 with numerous dupes, some of dubious heritage, this fall. Have not decided to expand to 520 but have not ruled it out. Upgrade is the word, it never stops!

Guess it's time to throw in the towel. I don't think my BB HOR RC thread is going to match the 61,000÷ views or 850÷ posts for this one. Kudos to you, Frank!

Bought it a number of years ago on impulse, $10 or $15. I doubt I'd buy too many more but they are great cards, I see the appeal. You guys have some impressive collections.

80, solely attributable to my avatar.

Hi, this seemed like a great spot for the first post. I am new again to the hobby after a (typical?) ~20 year post-teen layoff. Looking forward to working on some subset of the monster, though haven't decided which. I definitely prefer chasing the errors & short prints. First, I need to catch up on some other sets and the icons I couldn't afford on my allowance way back when...

Every month??? PRN & ASAP is the only way to satisfy this crowd.

On a related note, obviously this thread is going to outlive all of us.

Folks climbing the ladder have requested that those near the top remember to downgrade their MN should they sell before their demise. It should also be remembered that a Monster Number is something that you cannot take with you, therefore a codicil to your will is strictly required to transfer custody of your MN to the heir of your choosing. Such heirs should be instructed to apply for Board member status upon your passing and formally request a name change via PM. Your understanding of this request is greatly appreciated.

There are now over 40,000 cards on the list, hopefully no duplicate entries.

I am getting down to the point of "Holy Sh*t, this is getting tough.". Every card that I need from here on out is a HOF, save for Foster and Helm being the last two SL to go. To be quite honest, as I look at the remaining Big Dawgs, I have to wonder if it is do-able without a divorce lawyer There MAY be a couple that can be had for a single Ben but most of what is left will require twin Bens or better. I will keep on slogging.

Here are the latest three pick-ups for a MN of 476.9

50. Ted Breitenstein OM
228. Hughie Jennings (Portrait) SC350
311. John McGraw (Finger In Air) SC150

You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Strive to be happy.

Default 100!

I've been at "The Monster" for a little over a year now and finally reached my first milestone. These latest three pick-ups bring my total to 100:

Frank, I added Josh Devore and a Harry Howell portrait. It's been quite a while since I've been able to buy any T206, and my number is still small. But it feels good just to add something to my collection.

So, please up my monster number to 23. Thanks!
