Default T206 CREASE(s) CONTEST

To celebrate my first week of the start to building "The Monster" and a new member here on net54baseball; I am running a contest that will end Sunday (Feb. 3, 2013). I always wanted to work on this set since I picked up my first T206's in 1991 and kept a handful of them. To start my set, I am buying low grade beaters for $7 each. Send me a pm.

CONTEST RULES:
(1) Winner that I choose will receive a $20 PayPal Gift or Money Order.
(2) Contest starts NOW.
(3) Contest ends Sunday evening (Feb 3, 2013)
(4) Winner will be posted.
(5) Winner has the right to send me the card for the PayPal Gift.
(6) Attach a scan of the T206 with the most creases (hammered).
(7) Only scan of front needed.
(8) Post comments on scans encouraged (observations).

GOOD LUCK!

I will start it of with a scan of my NO NAMER!

My Rube is not available. I could never part with it. Just wanted to set the bar.

The fact that I had this card graded should get me some additional points.

(I'd like to think that I don't have OCD, but when it comes to cards...)

Default Mike, he said creases, not mutilation

I think Waddell should be thrown out.

Creases are creases......................Mutilation is Waddell.

Are we judging on the basis of crease quality or crease quantity?

Roger here is laden with nearly 50 creases, but he presents well. His nose will heal.

Frank..... Mutilated creases are still creases

Unless someone can produce just a remaining corner of a recognizable T206, i think that Waddell is a winner.

These are my best examples.

I scored that Rube a while back. He is just so messed up that I had to have him. He survived a century. It has been tossed around before but anybody have any ideas as to what happened to him?

Mike,

Every time I see that Rube, it grows on me a little more

Way to set the bar.

I have a Waddell of my own, though it pales in comparison to the one posted earlier.

I bought it for a dollar in about 1982 from the local card shop I used to go to when I was a boy. It was my first T206, and I still have it today, just like this. It's the card that turned me on to T206s as a kid, and also the card that turned Rube Waddell into my favorite player from the era. This is still my favorite baseball card, all these years later.

Still, it is a fine example of Rube with 30 years of emotional attachment. He will be yours forever, I'd think.

Default beat

Not going to beat that Waddell puzzle but still a fun thread! (edited to mention Jamie's Cobb could be worse condition although the difference between a minus 8 and a minus 9 is often quite subtle and dependant on the grader's mood )

Mine is an easy puzzle to determine which back goes to which front

Craig, where are you in Oregon? Always good to see a fellow Pac NW guy!

Just a few of my ultra-beaters.. Don't let the Ganzel fool you. The soft-sleeve and toploader are pretty much holding it together. It's flaked, and that surface consists of 4 or 5 randomly sized pieces.

Also, posted the stained Bliss just for fun..

Default We have a WINNER!

That was a blast!

Thanks to all that participated.

Mike (Bocabird...) started the contest off by posting a scan of his "hammered" WADDELL and if this would have just been a hammered contest, he would have been fighting it out with Jamie (Blund...) with his Cobb puzzle.

It then came down to Rob D's MAGIE, Jason (t206blog...) PAIGE and David (novak...) his WILTSE card.

The WINNER is Rob D and his MAGIE card. I hope I haven't hurt any feelings.

Rob D, please pm me to claim your money.

Until the next one, good hunting and c'ya again.

Craig

Default Late update!

Well, Rob D has been a true gentleman and wants the money to be passed along to a fellow T206 collector that entered the contest, so the next in line would be David (novak...) with his WILTSE card.

So, David (novak...), please send me a pm to claim your money.

Thanks,

Craig

Dang, I missed the deadline and tried to put this up Monday, but I decided it was still so nicely creased I had to share. Looks like it was folded neatly at some point into a 1/4" x 1/2" chunk!
