To my knowledge, this issue has never been identified. At last check, there had been five total players found, all of whom were known by only one example. So...assuming that is still the case, this would be a SGC/PSA population of zero!

Marc, I assume this WaJo is 1 of the 5 you are referring to:

Yes, indeed! The other three are Cobb, Simmons, and Joe Judge...so 4 HOF'ers of the 5 known cards, and to my knowledge, all are 1/1. Thanks for showing that lovely WaJo!

One of one, with only three confirmed players (Matty and Wajo), about the size of a T222:

These two ought to make the cut, especially because I think the Det. Am. version of the Cobb is tougher than the Detroit Americans version.

None of the TPGs have graded one, this is currently with SGC and should have it back in a month.

Zan, Isn't that a trimmed R303-A or am I missing something?

Here's a Crawford I've shown a bunch of times. 1 of 2 that I am aware of and by far the nicer of the 2

This is actually a 1939 World Wide Gum V351B Trimmed Premium. Very obscure and scarcely known issue. From my research, WWG bought a surplus of the R303A issue from Goudey, had them factory trimmed on top and bottom borders to fit the box they were distributed in, and then re-distributed as a Canadian issue. Most think this was done to tide collectors over until the actual V351 was released later that year.

This issue is also listed in the Standard Catalog under the R303A designation, describing that some variations exist with the borders trimmed in this way.

Here's a few I haven't seen yet. The 1921 Herpolsheimer's are all 1 of 1's, so this McGraw is it. The Number 7 Cigar card of Clarkson only shows two total graded by SGC, with a single graded example of a related issue, Diamond S Cigars graded by PSA, so maybe three graded in total. And the Helmar backed Cobb is one of only two, maybe three, known to even exist.

Thanks Val,

I always thought it was very interesting that the actual 1921 Herpolsheimer cards had penciled dollar amounts on the backs of them. Now why McGraw would supposedly be worth $5 and Crawford only $1 is beyond me. LOL

Nice one Jobu. Any Helmar or Red Sun backed white version S74 silk is going to have less than 10 graded examples of a single player out there. In fact, even if you combined all the Helmar and Red Sun backed silks for each individual player, I sincerely doubt any single player would have more than 10 total combined that even still exist, let alone be graded.

I've got a Red Sun backed Tinker silk somewhere. I'll have to pull it out and post it for you then.

LOL, that is funny!!!! I guess managers were considered more valuable than players back then.

And another nice card by the way. Hope that WAJO is yours as well then.

Val,

Here's my Red Sun - Joe Tinker. Only two on SGC's site, and PSA doesn't grade them.

Here are a couple more "rare" HOFers. The Hughie Jennings - Morton's Bread Pin only has 2 graded per PSA, and none per the SGC site. The Diamond S Cigar card of King Kelly shows only 3 graded by PSA and 1 by SGC.

Leon - I need you explain that one please. So Mickey signed that twice? Was it gifted away? Any idea of the story behind the card/sig? Are those authentic sigs I am assuming?

Cool card!

Thanks Steven.
I have never seen another one, or any information on it, so what I say is just an educated guess. I believe they were given out at the Theater as a Promo. My guess on the sigs is one real sig and the other is a facsimile that was put on all of them.
And here is a W626 of Ruth where there is NO card known....only this negative to make one from, but one has never been seen, as far as I know.

Pretty much all of the Negro League HOFer are less than 10, so I can post more if people want to see them.

This one has several HOFers in it: Lou Gehrig, Lefty Grove, Rabbit Maranville, Mickey Cochrane, Al Simmons.

Given what I learned in the following thread, this may be a 1 of 1 as it could be from an uncatalogued G.T. Son Co. issue:
