Hey I purchased this card the other day taking a chance that It might be an original. Can anyone go to the link and take a look and see if you think it is a reprint or original? It doesnt matter one way or another. I mean I paid $127. Ive had bar tabs larger than that. Ive spent that much on lottery tickets, so I thought it would be worth a shot. Thanks.

Unfortunately fake. I would not pay if I were you - no reason wasting the money, even $127...

If it says 'being sold as a reprint' why would they lie about that? To keep the price down?

People make up stuff about a reprint being real, not about a real card being reprint. If the seller himself thought it was real, why would he sell it as a reprint? The answer is he wouldn't-- which means the seller doesn't believe it is real.

And even if he truly doesn't know whether it's reprint or real (so is 'selling as reprint'), why would you chose to purchase a thousands dollar card from someone who is unable to tell if the card is reprint or real? Wouldn't it be better to expensive raw baseball cards from sellers who can tell the difference?

In the end, if a seller says his sales lot is a reprint, take his word for it.

You can be sure that if it's being "sold as a reprint," it is. A listing such as this is invariably an attempt to deceive and is actually a violation of Ebay's listing policy, though they don't seem to enforce it very well. In the section on listing violations, check out AUTHENTICITY DISCLAIMER.

This could be a relatively cheap learning lesson. If it says in all capital letters "BEING SOLD AS A REPRINT" and someone buys it then they just bought a reprint. I have made worse mistakes many times......Hint- don't ever buy a card being sold as a possible reprint or such and think it might not be....as you will be buying a reprint.....999 times out of 1000.....regards

Vanessa, I don't have any idea how much hundreds of dollars are worth to you, but it seems that you've been involved in trying to get things on the cheap by not buying certified cards, and in the end you've now gotten burned a few times. Common sense would suggest you stick to graded cards until you're better off at picking out the fakes.

I disagree with the opinion that if it says "being sold as a reprint" then it is a reprint 100% of the time. I'm sure there are times when the seller just doesn't know, and says that just so the buyer can't get on his case when it proves to be non-authentic. I'm not saying that's the sign of a smart seller or anything, haha.

People I really appreciate your concern with my pocket book and all but I really wasnt asking if I should buy it or not. I was just asking if you think it is a reprint or not. It really isnt that big of a deal. I fully expect it to be a reprint. I bought it thinking it was a reprint because the seller said it was. Thank all of you for your concern.

Now, I'm curious - why would someone knowingly spend over $100 for a reprint?

I am fooled by Goudey's than any other Issues. The originals can look like fakes and vice versa. Comparison is the key.

I read the riot act to some poor seller for selling me a fake that came back graded!(I profusely appologized, he was very gracious.)

The mug on the right is graded.
