95 down...5 to go! Looks a tad better in person. Main blemish is a small horizontal print defect around the middle of the right border.

Thanks Al for that! I love reading this type of info. It surely looks odd that gap, I've always noticed this about that card. Off to google to find the article.

Love the Mercer card, he was a favorite when I was a kid...how cool you were at those games...

Modest April pick-up: Generally, I am not too keen on cards from a star player's last year, but I think this has to qualify as an exception. Pretty interesting card of Yogi, he's depicted as a Met, but is obviously still wearing the darker blue Yankees pinstripes. Back of the card (this one had some light writing) has nearly complete career stats. Great smile too.

Yogi came out of retirement for a few games to catch fellow veteran Warren Spahn that year: "I don't know if we were the oldest battery in history, but we were definitely the ugliest…"

Would be fun to pair that Berra with other player-coach or player-mgr cards to make an all HOF lineup. Without thinking too hard...

C - Berra
P - Ford
1b - Rose
2b - Hornsby
3b - McGraw
SS - Wagner
Of - F Robinson
Of - ...uh oh, ran out of brainpower...

All that Jackie talk on the main board gave me the itch. A tough card to find well centered.

Nice Clemente Irv. I'm feeling these key '50's cards in mid grade offer some great value.

Got this 72 Venezuelan sticker album in very rough shape but has all but five stickers in it and how often do you get a chance to get a Venezuelan album. Rick

Here is a non-card addition that I'm thrilled with. As background, I am planning an entire sports memorabilia room when I move into a new house--Hank Aaron museum, Brooklyn Dodgers collection, Top 100, etc.

Those of you with special ladies in your life can imagine that such rooms are often met with a tinge of resentment, at least in certain situations. ("If your parents need to stay in our Hall of Fame, just make sure they don't touch anything or open the shades.")

Well, this pickup for one of the walls will soften the blow. The key here is that my girlfriend believes she is related to former MLB ump Lou Jorda, on the right of the pic. As a side note, I was astounded at the nice condition this was in. And the white vertical lines aren't creases but Norman Rockwell's version of swift rainfall.

Sounds like a good excuse for lunch...

On the back end of the set now, when this arrives it will be the first time I have ever seen one in person. Pretty excited about this pickup...

Neal, mid-grade it may be, but honestly, that gorgeous Mantle has ultra high-grade eye appeal. Heartiest of congratulations, bro! You know, it's hard to take my eyes off of it. Again, way da go. ----Brian Powell

I took a break from collecting the last two years, and this card was on my short list for the past few months. Love this message board as well!

Default The Fisk run begins in earnest

Since I was ten years old, I've collected Pudge Fisk cards off and on, amassing hundreds of them (still chasing that 1974 Deckle Edge). And I think I mentioned once before, nothing will ever replace the mostly EX to NM cards I collected back then (especially since my grandfather helped me find so many of them at the flea market), but I thought it might be fun to put together a basic high grade set. And to that end, here we go with the first couple of entries.

Neither have I. I won them in a small group of SGC cards, not knowing they were in the group. They have stickers on the back for $375 and $325... So they are obviously worth that much right??? haha. They probably are worth a 1/20th of that, but I love them and they went straight to my PC.

Cool card Wilkie!

Hey, do you know the significance of the "Collectors Collection" on your SGC slabs? I have a couple from SGC from that collection as well...

Jake...great cards. I just got done living the 1960 set, received my LAST card last week. Last card purchased was #509 Tommy Davis...but this card was shipped to me last (came from Canada and took a while longer than expected), so technically this is the last card of my EX+ set (which I love and am thrilled with, what a great year) Good luck on your quest!

Thanks I passed on about 10 7s in the last few weeks because of centering before finding this one on ebay. I think this one looks a lot nicer and saved me quite a bit compared to what the 7s were going for.
